This was my first and last visit. We were seated in the corner which was fine but after waiting for a waiter for about 15 mins I began to wonder if they had forgotten about us. Finally a waiter came over. He never told us the specials so we ordered from the limited selections on the menu. We then heard the other waiters telling incoming patrons of the specials. At this point it was too late to change our orders. Appetizer came out right away which was nice. It was roasted peppers and mozz. Majority of the peppers were orange. I found that very strange. They were very bland and the cheese was on the hard side. It was just ok. For the entree I ordered Chicken Parm with a side of pasta. The chicken was fair but biting into a large piece of fat was a horrible experience. The pasta was over cooked and tasted like nothing but mush. The dessert tray looked appetizing but considering the entree wasn't so great we passed on dessert and just asked for the check. When I dine out I expect the meal to be better then what I can make at home. This meal did not meet my expectations. Had the service been better maybe the meal would've tasted better - I don't know.

This place is a scam .
Food is as good as a mall food court and service stinks especially when you hire stoned kids who get fired from mc donald .
I reccomend to stay away if you want Italian food .
If you look to overpay for cheap prepared meals then this is your place

This is one of finest Italian restraunts, i have ever been and i have been in alot of restraunts and used to be in the business. Great food and Great service. this an old fashion cooking. Regarding comment made by Gennaro, in Indiana if you ask for an Italian restraunt they will point towards Denny's.

I`m very surprised and disappointed of the bad comments I read about piazza margherita. I`m an Italian guy, I come from naplres, and I usually eat in the best restaurants of my city. I`ve never found such a place like piazza in New jersey. The food is excellent, the quality of service amazing, and I had some of the best times there wirth the owners, who are extremely nice and friendly. Everytime you go there they offer you free coffee (in this country you know that in the restaurants YOU DON`T GET ANYTHING FOR FREE)..they care more about you than about your money, the prices are affordable and there`s no reason to say bad things about them. I highly reccomend this place.

After reading the first reviews about piazza I decided to try myself the place, because you never know if you can trust reviews...and I had a splendid time there...I cannot imagine someone writing something bad about this place. Food, service, atmosphere was great. It felt like family to me.I agree with matteo. Try it and then you tell me what you think, don`t stop at the bad reviews..

The feeling of family is only surpassed by the excellent food at Piazza Margherita. You cannot go wrong ordering from the regular menu, but the specials are AMAZING. The portions are generous and the pricing is better than reasonable. If you can, save room for desert; they are home made at their family bakery (Aroma Di Napoli, Nutley) and some you won't see anywhere else. It is easy to see why this place is patronized by neighborhood people in an Italian area. EXCELLENT!

I have eaten at Piazza Margherita many times since it opened. I have NEVER had a less than perfect meal and have been treated like family since day one. Pasquale (the owner) is always there and would never tolerate less than excellent service or food. This place is busy for a good reason. It is impossible to please everybody, but they go out of their way to try.

Hey, I don't understand why people would leave offensive comments that could affect the image of a great place. I know I'm probably speaking for myself and I want to share my thoughts with all of u. As a former owner of a restaurant I know how it is to have one , it's like having another marriage because you put your heart on it and you spend most of the time there. Your main goal is to please everybody but apparently if god cannot please everybody how do u expect that one human being can please all of us. Next time if u go to a restaurant and u have a problem is better off to talk to the owner because he may do something for u to make u feel satisfied!

You just seem like a person who CAN'T be pleased. First of all I go there to eat once, maybe twice a week and never ever had a complaint. Every staff member there is hard working and nice. The food is beyond good. The specials menu is ALWAYS printed in the menu. I have never had to have them tell me the specials since they are right there in front of my face. Maybe you should have asked "are there any specials today?" And the non special menu is not limited by all means. It is a whole page long. Maybe instead of whining about it on the computer, you should have politely told the owner how you felt, trust me he is very interested in what his clients think, both good and bad. If you can cook a better meal at home, stay there.

I took my girlfriend last weekend and had a fantastic time. We brought a bottle of wine with us that was opened as soon as we sat down, followed by delicious fresh bread with a great oil mix. We shared a plentiful order of calimari that was crispy and tasty.

My girlfriend ordered the Veal Marsala which was tender a really good mushrooms. I ordered the Cod Oreganata which was once again plentiful and had garlic mashed potatoes and a unique vegetable medlley that really added to the dish.

For dessert we had a toasted coconut tiramisu that topped off the evening with the perfect touch. All in all, a great evening that I would recommend to anyone--I will be back.

it seems like 'disappointed' is probably one of those people that just likes to complain - it must make him/her feel better hiding behind a computer to 'bash'.....how tacky i can understand that one might have an unpleasant experience in any establishment at one time or another but did you take the time to talk to the proprietor to try to get your issues resolved? i bet if you had you would have left with a totally different attitude!
anyway, we went there for the first time last night and have been going to their place in nutley since it opened as usual everything-food, service, atmosphere was excellent!! the owners are lovely, caring, family people who cannot do enough to please their customers we had our son's christening party at the nutley establishment about 4 years ago - we had 3 1/2 feet of snow that day - the owner himself was outside shoveling the snow to make sure all of our guests were comfortable, safe and well taken care of not to mention the wonderful food because of the personal attention we had an unforgettable event which our guests are still raving about!
now we will just have trouble deciding which place to go to - last night we went to both! highly reccomend!!
