BERNARD KEANE,
THIS WAS THE PERFECT POSTING.....
I GUESS(?) THAT THE CITY CLERK DENISE DE COSTA DID THE CORRECT THING (FOR THE MAYOR-WHO ELSE), OTHERWISE, THE STOP RAIL PEOPLE MIGHT HAVE CHANGED THE PETITION TO "MAKE SURE" THE RAIL ISSUE WAS VOTED ON IN NOVEMBERS GENERAL ELECTION---AND OF COURSE THAT WOULDN'T HELP OUR MAYORS RUN FOR GOVERNOR IN TWO YEARS-----WOULD YOU CALL THAT PART-TIME STATUS AS A MAYOR?????????
Still from Kaneohe...

Thanks Alice,
I truly believe there are some things that could be started now. It may take some thinking outside the square, but I know we could improve things to some degree. We need to get more bicycle friendly also. An amazing amount of people walk here, we need to protect them. After visiting other places and watching so many people walking, we asked how many miles a day does the average person walk there. We were told some walk as many as 5-7 miles. And after 16 days, we saw no one that was obese. I know we can come up with hundreds of ideas, we just need to start.

The City Council already approved mass transit, but haven't decided what kind is the best for our money. The experts already have spoken that steel wheel on steel rail is the most economical in the long run. So what is the problem?

The problem is......we need some kind of relief now, not in several years when the rail is done. There are things that could relieve some of the pressure now and in the near future. We need to implement more than one thing at a time. We can't wait for the rail to see if it works, then and only then go on to the next idea. We have to think outside the square and come up with several good ideas to put into affect now.
