7 And I laugh at the hypocrisy of Mufi Hannemann when he said that it would cost $1.5 million to $2 million to hold a special election. How much money will it cost to hold a special election if Mufi gets re-elected this year only to "jump ship" in two years to seek higher office? Liar and a hypocrite... It just keeps getting better. |

4 Anyway, the incompetence- if not outright evil- of the plain ol' Linda Ad may even make this moot, since our very general election in November is in jeopardy or atleast so messed up as to generate false or less than fair results that an efficient, auditable election would. A VEERRYY suspicious situation when you consider the past debacles in Florida (2000) and Ohio (2004) with republican governors; especially in predominately Democratic areas. |

2 People are behind creating jobs, but not through this crappy plan. Billions for a train from Ala Moana to Kapolei? If rail went to the right places, people would probably rally behind it. If the technology wasn't elevated, ugly and noisy, they might go for it. If it meant massive redevelopment in town, where most of the good jobs are, people could see the wisdom in that. If it didn't go hand in hand with further urbanization of the west side, people might go for it. If you want jobs, ask people to subsidize a project that will do a lot of good for Oahu, not make a mess of it. |

2 The City officials want to play dirty politics. What else is new in Hawaii? Adapt, improvise and overcome by holding the Special Election. In fact, a Special Election will mean that those who seriously oppose rail will be most likely to go out and vote on the matter which, in turn, means a much, much greater likelihood of prevailing on the question. Though it appears this move by City officials is to stymie the will of the People, it may, in fact, be a blessing in disguise, because it will force a special election where only the most serious and ardent opponents to rail will vote on the matter. In every cloud there is a silver lining. SNR and the People should seize this opportunity as yet another opportunity to kill rail now. |

4 "The following question is being submitted to the People of the City and County of Honolulu to be voted upon at a SPECIAL election." There is no conspiracy or directive from the mayor to the city clerk. SRN screwed it up themselves with their choice of words. |
