No-service TV viewers will lose CBS programs - TheBuzz

Full story: Honolulu Star-Bulletin

Viewers hooked on KGMB-TV's local news or CBS network programs, but who watch the station over the air, will lose those shows when the station changes places with KFVE-TV. A woman who called your columnist from Kalihi said one of the stations told her she would lose her signal when the stations swap channels.

Even a "couple of weeks" is a violation of the letter and spirit of federal laws and regulations that mandate access to broadcast TV signals. Those responsible for this denial of service should be severely fined and their broadcast license renewals put under the microscope.

There is a war against free, over-the-air TV. If you don't believe it, read this story:

Hawaii lawmakers should not tolerate this attempt at "densensitizing" the public regarding its right to free access to broadcast radio and TV signals.

The Obama FCC is letting down viewers in Hawaii. Let Washington know!

What a sad, sad end to the legendary KGMB, Hawaii's first TV station. For all intents and purposes, that station is now dead. RIP, KGMB.

It would have been nice if KGMB had informed its viewers that CBS programming would be lost to over-the-air viewers. I watched their 10 o'clock news every night, and never heard them say anything about it. And, it would be nice now, if the combined Hawaii NewsNOW would inform viewers what, if anything, will be done to restore CBS over-the-air broadcasts.

We wonder if withholding CBS from viewers is in compliance with the spirit of the first amendment, espescially since we were recently required to buy a converter box in order to view our favorate programs, most of them on CBS.

Did this upgrade happen? I notice KHNL and KGMB showing up now in my update scan on Sat. 11/14, although I have to adjust the antenna to actually tune in.

Daily Horoscope for December 29

Virgo

If something is weighing on your mind it will start to affect your health, Virgo. It might make you feel tired or depressed, or it could dominate your thoughts. You know what you should do about it, of course, but it seems like too much effort or you want to pretend that it doesn't exist. Unfortunately, this escapist attitude won't make the problem go away and might even make it more tricky by the time you finally decide to tackle it.
