The only clowns that scare me are the politicians, and all my Bozo supervisors.

My fear of clowns predates "It" and Hollywood clowns. When I was six ('66), at a performance of the circus at my hometown, I got lost wandering around the arena, and wound up in the performers dressing area. I saw some of the clowns who I had just seen before, and walked up to them. A couple looked at me, then screamed for security, "Who let this little boy back here?!". I turned around and ran around until my sister found me. I was crying and wanted to leave, and now!

All I can think is that the same clowns that had made me so happy before, were now yelling at me and making me sad. And I didn't understand for what reason. I've hated clowns ever since.

Don't like clowns & mimes are just evil. You can talk and there is no damn box.
I also fear Dentists that is straight from the old Dustin Hoffman/Roy Schieder movie, Marathon Man.

"It"? Man, I loved that book.

Don't particularly like clowns, though.

Scary is people like you -- obviously too ignorant to spell correctly or use anything resembling correct grammar -- thinking that you can make intelligent decisions on the election.

Back to the topic at hand: clowns are just plain creepy -- and the more they try to prove they are not, the creepier they appear. Why we subject sick children trapped in hospital beds to them is beyond me.

We're brought up to be wary of strangers, yet there seems to be some unwritten exemption for clowns (or so they think). I don't think most kids, especially very small ones, no what to make of an adult getting into their personal space.

Make balloon animals, crowd into a VW, but stay the heck away!

Terry Pratchett summed this up pretty well, "

"No clowns were funny. That was the whole purpose of a clown. People laughed at clowns, but only out of nervousness. The point of clowns was that, after watching them, anything else that happened seemed enjoyable. It was nice to know there was someone worse off than you. Someone had to be the butt of the world." Terry Pratchett, Men at Arms (1993).

They are CLOWNS. They are supposed to look a little wierd and funny. Give me a break! I don't recall any clowns hijacking any planes, kidnapping anyone or committing murder.
Only a pathetic, wussy, loser would think of a clown as being anything more than a CLOWN.

Come to think of it, there are 535 clowns in Washington who should scare the hell out of all of us.(Counting GW, would give us 536 and Hillary and Obama never in Washington so we have to put it back to 534.)

Clowns haven't always scared me but after I read IT, that clenched it. Clowns should take heart; I used to work at Disney and the kids are scared of Mickey too, and don't forget all the crying when you plop them down on Santa's lap

I also wanted to add, I never thought they were fumny either. They remind me of the Three Stooges. I never could figure out why people laughed. The Stooges are abusive, and clowns are just ... well there. I don't get it.

Wow, this is all new to me. I had no idea that people, especially adults could be afraid of clowns. I guess I should get out more.(But not to a circus?...hahaha)

Clowns were never meant to scare anyone, until Stephen King's "IT"...and the rest of the scarey movies that came out afterward...personally,I love clowns, always have, and I'm almost 60...but,my cousin, who is close to my age,is scared to death of them...I am more scared of war, starving, fire, and any number of other things than a simple clown...

After seeing "Killer Klowns from outer space"; I suffer the same thing. Especially when I see "Klowns" cruising down the street in a car w/ jacked up wheelies.
