To the Brostrom Ohana, My deepest sympathies. I cannot imagine being in your place. My prayers and thoughts are with you. Your son gave the ultimate sacrifice on behalf of our nation. To protect our freedoms. May God keep you, I am so sorry for your loss.

Condolences to a lost brother and to the family that suffered the loss. Sad when we lose a soldier, sadder when it is closer to home. He died for a noble cause and died protecting others...the ultimate sacrifice.

I cannot imagine how you must feel. My own son is in the 82nd Airborne and was in Afghanistan 18 months, having only recently returned. He sustained injuries after hitting 2 separate road bombs. Each time I was so grateful to our Heavenly Father for sparing him one more time.

What a sad story. The pictures make me want to cry. The two fathers who recently lost their sons. The poor boy. The pain the wife feels. Life can be so cruel and yet so beautiful at times. Without the bad we would never truly experience the good. Someday the wife will remarry, the boy will marry and have a child of his own.

whats with all the fuss. he was a soldier and went to war where he died much like the rest of his brothers and sisters behind enemy lines will do. no big deal, thats what happens in a war. i could see if he was flipping burgers and this happened then yeah... but its part of his job. 4200 down many more to go. the more that die there the less benefits and hospital bills your government will have to pay out. This soldier's death is a tragedy. Another victim of Bush who sent our soldiers in harms way in an unnecessary war.

War without end. Another youth sacrificed in the vainglorious global projection of power through militarism. Ten trillion in debt and going on 5,000 US deaths and uncounted Iraqis and Afganis. Shinseki warned that without putting hundreds of thousands of troops on the ground we would face a grinding and futile misadventure in the MidEast, similar to the experience of the Greeks, the British, and the Soviets. The chickenhawk NeoCons ignored him and he was disrespected; then, essentially, he was sacked. The result- undermanned, exposed outposts. Having spent thousands of years defending their territories from invaders and willing to withstand privations unimaginable to us, the Afganis will fight on.
