must be nice to recieve a 15k grant, even if you're a non-kama'aina living in the county, excpectially durning this time of a government budget crisis. What about those who are unemployed, trying to seek a job, and don't own a home? don't we get any grants?? seems like the only way to get financial breaks from the government is to be a rich household...

I can feel your pain Stuff. If I remember correctly, the Aloha state voted overwhelmingly for the joker in the white house for changes, now we're suffering the consequences.

The so called stimulus is a joke. Look around the nation, fake numbers everywhere for joba created with this "porkulus" bill... what a frigging shame...

At least the spirit of ohana is stronger than ever in Hawaii nei... Hang loose bruddah!!!

What the Governor should do instead of taking a state funded trip to China to promote tourism to Hawaii islands, is to build more prison space and get more aggresive with crime, cuz guarantee thats what's scaring our asian tourists away...nobody wants to be robbed or mugged. Maybe if she had an entourage of crafts people and hawaiian entertainment, it WILL make a difference...but only her showing up...nah..not even!

By the way, why can't Mr. Chairman Brian Schatz (D) propose his own ideas as to fixing the state's budget, shortfalls and reaching deals with the corrupted labor unions???

Does he think that the governor can just wave the Kahuna's magic wand and all these crisis' will disappear??? Or is he he waiting for more handouts from the "Porkulus Bill"???

At least Linda is trying to create more revenues for the islands whether it be from China or bum f**k egypt somewhere...

Am I the only tired of hearing nothing constructive out of Brian Schatz' mouth? He, and people like him, on both sides of the aisle is why we are where we are. No ideas, no solutions, just pot shots. Not that I think Lingle has done a particularly good job, but quit blaming her for everything that has happened from the beginning of time. The State's Democratic leadership has quite a hand in all of this. Their constant and continued pandering to their corrupt benefactors becomes more and more evident everyday.

BTW: How much is Lingle spending for the promotional trip, and most of all, who are the others she's taking with her on the backs of taxpayers. With the down economy, does she really believe her trip will promote tourist traveling to Hawaii with the yuan being so weak (7:1US).
Lingle should follow her own advice and take care of her own state in this critical time of furlough troubles and budget cuts. She's probably spending the cost of at least one state position in her bogus vacation. People, she doesn't care what flack she makes, she doesn't intent to have to resolve poor decisions as ex-govener.

This is how Linda handles things remember when we were in the last crisis, she was promoting McCain and kissing Palin's okole, hoping down the line for a job. She is an ineffective governor. Spend, spend not her money.

BRIAN SHATZ-----

I NOTICE YOU "HIT" GOV. LINGLE FOR BEING OUT OF STATE DURING OUR LABOR NEGOTIATIONS!!!!!!!!

KIND OF A ONE-SIDED COMMENT!!!!!!

HOW COME THERE WAS NO COMMENT ABOUT MUFI ALSO BEING OUT OF TOWN, BECAUSE THE MAYORS MUST SIGN OFF ON THE NEGOTIATIONS WITH THE GOV. AS A PART OF THE DEAL??????????

THIS SOUNDS LIKE "DEMACROOK" BASHING OF THE REPUBLICANS----JUST BEFORE THE ELECTION YEAR,(AND PROBABLY THROUGH THE NEXT YEAR)-----YOU ARE ABOUT AS TWO-FACED AS MUFI, YOUR FAMILY MUST BE SO PROUD????????

Still from Kaneohe...

The American Samoa Community should find out what happened to the federal money that was sent to build a tsunami early warning system that was never built. http://www.cnn.com/2009/WORLD/americas/10/27/...

Something smells awfully fishy about this whole frigging mess! I'm glad the FBI is looking for the culprits as to the missing funds for the warning systems.

Majority of politicians are no different than pharisees and schemers!!! What a damn shame... As Jack Lord used to say: "BOOK 'EM DANIEL"...

Daily Horoscope for December 17

Pisces

If you want to make the best of the day you should lock yourself away and work on your own. This will make it easier to concentrate, especially if you're trying to focus on something that's fiddly or difficult. If you've got something on your mind at the moment it will be worth having a quiet word in someone's ear because they'll help you to get things into their proper perspective.
