I grew up (at least a little bit} in KAKE. My Dad, Alfred Kleiva was Outside Foreman of the cannery in the 40's. He was an emmigrant from Norway. He had spent some time in Alaska, in the cannerys and on the traps before he and my Mother, Ellen came to Kake.
My Dad died over 20 years ago of Cancer and Mom in May last year of old age (93). I would love to hear from anyone up there and particularly anyone who remembers or has heard of them or possibly even me. Ray Bell was the storekeeper and Florence Bell,(his wife),the nurse. From the pictures I have just enjoyed, I can see that the Island is as beautiful as ever. Ann Spikes |
