S. Fla.'s risk of wildfires is growing by day, officials warn

Just a few weeks after South Florida celebrated drought-relieving rains, the smell of smoke hanging in the air and the crunch of dried brush underfoot show that the dry season has yet to be quenched.

I wonder if some of these fires could have been started by people facing foreclosure.

The past three months brought above-normal rainfall, but a pattern of almost weekly showers seemed to stop just as the South Florida Water Management District on April 18 eased watering restrictions.

SFWMD are a bunch of idiots. Go back to 1 day a week watering and hand out fines to those who dont follow the rules. Start building desalinzation plants now and making water. This is a man made drought by SFWMD.

Hey, don't worry.

I have it covered.

I just don't want all of you who cried about "it being too dry" waa waa, complaining later about "the few wet" storms I have planned for you this year.

Oh yeah, go buy some batteries and water while you can.

Humans.

NEVER satisfied.

Lord, what fools these mortals be.

Call Publix for a firemen. Please do not call at night as they may be sleeping on the taxpayers payroll clock. I wonder why no else pays employees to go shopping, watch tv and sleep?

During the last budget year, 464 people in the Palm Beach county's workforce made more than $100,000. About 68 percent of that group worked for fire-rescue.
Fire-rescue workers, like other county employees, receive benefits under the state's retirement system. Benefits are paid based on a person's average total compensation, which is calculated by averaging the five highest years of pay - including overtime.
Sid Dinerstein, chairman of the Palm Beach County Republican Party and critic of the county's budget, said it's a widely talked-about "game that's played in every county" that overtime goes to those who are close to retiring and need an extra boost.
"That's the scam," he said. "It's a rip-off of the taxpayers."

Wow, I hope to God you never need these firefighters. If your family or family home was in danger, are you really going to think about what they are paid? Let's be honest, from the President right on down the line, government employees are overpaid and have unrealistic retirement plans. YOU STILL NEED THEM. Lay off the firefighters. They are no worse than any other governement employee. Better yet, join them! Go thru the academy, go to school for medic, get a job and enjoy sleeping, shopping and being overpaid.

It's well known within the circle of fireman that the very people who start these type of fires are acually firemen that have not sought treatment for there mental disorders.
Yes sir. They can't wait to put on 350 lbs of gear and dash out into 96 degree weather and fight a fire burning at over 1,000 degrees. I am sure they set most of their own fires to relieve their boredom. PLEASE !! & NO, I am not a firefighter nor do I have one in the family, IU am just realistic and accepting of those things I cannot change. Take notes!
