North Lauderdale wants to split Florida into two states

What a stunt. Hope the point is taken. Meanwhile, if the state is split, you'll never hear English south of the border...

When I first saw the headline, I thought what a stupid idea. But after you think about it, it actually makes sense. It will never happen though.

I'm glad I have some Confederate Dollars.

I LIKE IT!! This story is getting legs under it between the SS and channel 4. IT was not just swept under the rug as idiotic ramblings. It makes sense, local radio shows are getting into.
I advocated this 2-3 years ago.
But cut from Ft. Myers to Stuart. We remain politically diverse, AND a national player because we retain the ninth spot in population.

Although nowhere near realistic, I think this is an interesting concept. I wonder how the two economies would match up - we have Ft. Lauderdale, Miami, and the Keys, they have Orlando and... well... Orlando's enough.

What a “paradise” you guys have created down there. Let’s review shall we:
*Lead the nation in road rage
*Number one in inflation
*Number one in mortgage fraud (this was for all of Florida, but I’m sure it’s mostly because of you losers)
*Number one in new AIDS cases
*Number one in foreclosures
*Second to last in percentage of volunteers (selfish people, this article was in the herald about 6 months ago)
*constant gridlock traffic
*Corrupt politicians (Dade police chief Timony, Broward sheriff Jenne, and every Miami politician)
*Cost of living (sky high home prices, homeowners insurance, car insurance, property taxes)
*Hurricanes
*Awful schools
*High crime (it seems I hear about a police officer getting shot every week)
*Extreme Overpopulation
*Americans are treated like foreigners in their own country (Is English even spoken down there anymore?)
*Horrible customer service (every place I go into the workers are incredibly rude)
The quality of life is so much better in so many other places, South Floridians must be the dumbest people in the country to put up with all this.

The article was not informative - just a blurb. It provides no further insight into the basis of the claim than the morning radio jocks.

South Florida should be its own country. There are no Americans left there anyway.

Maybe they're taking too much in taxes and fees. An alternative solution is to tax less. It follows that they would contribute less, get more, hence, problem solved.

Without us South Floridians, you North Florida hicks would be as backasswards as Mississippi. Not that you're that far off now.

South Florida is a tropical paradise and a modern metropolis. Most of the rest of Florida is HeeHaw Heaven, trailer parks and fornicating cousins and confederate flags and rusting F150's.

And btw, isn't your Tampa Bay area suffering traffic gridlock and already 1/4 hispanic? Time for you to move to Valdosta. I'll help you pack your trailer.

This same issue has been going on for years in California and overseas
in Italy (among other places).
North Lauderdale should split off and be annexed to Mississippi or Lousiana. It's a nasty little backwater of a town with a brutal crime rate.

Trailer? Other than a hut, then a boat, then a coffee and an unemployment line, have you ever been to Stuart, manalapan, Jupiter, etc, places where your people havent destroyed yet? Its like Miami in the 50s and Broward in the 70s. Now you guys have trashed everything. The issue should not be splitting it but putting a wall up and letting you guys stay down there in Northern Cuba

Brutal crime rate? Their crime rate is aligned with the national average.

i think north lauderdale doesn't qualify for north or south florida, more like a third world country. they can't even manage their own city. the idea of making suggestions to the state is like Haiti telling the u.s. they should improve.
