My son got a ticket for speeding, deserved it.
He also got a ticket for his window tint being too dark.
His tint is legal, but the cop metered it and said it was not.
I asked a local tint shop in JC, and he said Grandview Plaza has been busy with the tint tickets, and I was the third person that week who needed his front doors stripped. My son has the warranty saying what tint is on his car, but the cop would not tell him the percentage or show him the meter. It is also not written on the ticket, hmmm.
I plan to fight this, and the tint shop told me most cops don't even know how to properly use these tint meters.
Has anyone else had this problem in Grandview Plaza?

Oh, Bubba, you poor blind schlub. What does he need his windshield tinted for anyhow? If he's not hiding underage girls or drugs or bottlegged Canadian Club he drove up to Fargo to get, WTF does he need to look like a Lowrider Ese for?

BTw, you are not helping your son (age not said but one assumes under 30) grow into a man of quality by helping him circumvent the law. I guess you want to turn him into a whiner like you. If you were anything other than a mollycoddling dad you'd say, "You got a ticket? That's a problem you'll need to take care of."

Let me tell you what will happen: The GVP judge will rule against your son. You can appeal it to County Court. You will lose there too. In the end you'll have to pay the damn ticket and court costs. Any further appeal (State Supreme Court?) is a waste of time. Try discussing this with the lawyers who hunker at the Geary County Courthouse and they'll roll their eyes. Unless you find one who specializes in defending Lowriders.

Too many parents take the bullet for their kids instead of standing by them and showing them what's right. Pay the ticket and stop coddling your kid. Tinting is illegal and he got caught. If you have a gripe about how your son was treated, talk to the chief of police. The tint % is based on the state traffic ordinance book, which every city addopts.

Otherwise, continue not showing your son what is expected in operating a motor vehicle. It's a priveledge and not a right.

Why take the ticket if the ticket was not a proper ticket. If the gentleman and his son can prove that the tint is at a legal limit than they should bring it to court.
The poster doesn't say how old his son is, but if he is a teenager and has never dealt with this kind of issue it is a good parent will guide him through the proper steps and help him to stand up for himself in a mature manner, rather than just expecting him to learn it on his own.
Tinting is not illegal, in fact many cars come out of the factory with a darker tint than some cities allow.
While there is a state traffic ordinance on tinting cities can adopt their own ordinances making the law different city to city.

If I were you, I would investigate the tint as well. HOWEVER, if you walk in with a "shitty" attitude, I'm sure you'll be treated that way. There's no harm in trying to confirm if the ticket is "good" or not. Plus, if you don't find out if the tint is legal or not, it could cause you to get yet another ticket.

If you don't stand up for your kids, who else will?

Since the police are unable to accurately check the tint on your window, the ticket is most likely a warning, with no fine attached. My son got one, went to a shop had it checked. It was the legal 30%, but the popo thought it was 25 %. He got a warning three weeks later, this time the popo said it was 20%. Even though he had a paper from the tint shop that said it was 30%. The solution? He went and got 50% and now the popo leave him alone. It is highly unlikely the ticket that is at issue has a fine attached, as the popo would never be able to prove their case in court.

Where did Bubba say his windshield was tinted you idiot? You just rant and rave about anything don't you?
What is wrong with helping his kid out? He feels wronged, he will either win or he will not. You are always so quick to judge in such a nasty way, it's no wonder people hate you on here.
You are the schlub, find out the facts before you go throwing racial slurs and steretypes Ese.
BUBBA, I bet if you asked you could get a Junction City officer to meter your sons vehicle for another opinion, good luck.

Kangaroo, you are one big ass. I know my sons tint is legal because I paid for it as a graduation gift. FYI, tinting your windshield is not legal in any state. His windshield is not tinted.
My son is a good kid, he's a student and works. He is fully prepared to pay his tickets, and WHO is whining you douchebag? Nor do I want pity.
I asked if anyone else has had this problem, you have not so why comment? Then be a jerk and give me parenting advice? Lmao, you piece of crap. Get a life little person.

Ted, thank you I did have another officer check the tint, his meter said it was 32%, in his opinion, not dark enough to warrant a ticket as Kansas law on a CAR is 35%. I guess trucks and crossovers can be dark in the back, but the front doors are supposed to be 35%. This is the case in most states.
I still plan to contest this, no matter what that idiot Kangaroo says. He can take his advice, lol, and shove it.

That's what I thought, you got called out on your ignorance on yet another subject, and you come back with that? I'd rather be an a hole who knows the facts, than a pathetic coward who likes to stir up crap he obviously knows nothing about just to get some attention.

Show how I knew "nothing," you lying sack of sheeit. I know how the justice system works and how it's stacked on the side of the cops. I know cops don't give out tickets for too much tint for no reason. I know how people who feel entitled like the author of the initial post in this thread operate and want their little cupcakes to grow up with privileges others lack. In short I know so much more than a terd like you does. You need to kwit before you get torn a new one, you pathetic little twerp.

If you do like Bubba does all you give them is a sense of entitlement. A good parent seeks to raise kids who can stand up for themselves.

Read the initial post. If it's not entirely made up, if it's more of less an accurate reflection of what's occurring, "Bubba" is teaching Little Bubba Jr. to be an a-hole like him.
