I heard the same thing, that someone was living in the basement. I would not put it past his crooked ass to pay someone to move in and accidentally set fire to the place for the insurance money. At that price here in JC, he wouldn't be able to sell the house if it sat there for ten years. If I was the investigator from the FD, I would be looking at arson! But I am pretty sure that the final report will state that it was an accident.

Unfortunately, that has been the first response of almost everyone I have heard talk about it today....investigate,'cause they smell a rat!!! Surely the insurance co. would have to do an investigation???

I can't imagine what the house payment would be on a $640,000 house but I'm guessing it would be pretty darn high....imagine paying that month after month ON TOP of whatever huge house payment he must surely have where he lives now! Wonder if desperate times called for desperate measures???

He may or may not have had it burned down but trust me he is in no need for money he has plenty so even if the payment was big trust me he can handle it

I know the firemen have to do it, but it is too bad when something is this far gone, they just don't let it all go. Now it still is a total loss and someone will have to pay to remove the remains.

He was a big-wig at Dick Edward's for years. His wife was a realator at various real estate agencies in town. From things I've heard, some people liked him, but plenty of folks didn't. He moved to Arizona with a new job, not sure what exactly it was, however I thought it involved the car business. Not sure about how it's been going for him there, I'd be anxious to hear more about this as well. His house is the big house to the East on Hwy. 77. It's been on the market at LEAST a year (has it been two years?), and has used at least two different realtors to try to sell it. Honestly, I have wondered how in the world they would ever sell it....who could afford a $640,000 house that would be moving to J.C??? The timing of it just seems very suspect to plenty of us, I guess. A little too convenient, if you know what I mean.

None of you know anything. Apparently some of you just have nothing better to do than to make someone's life miserable. Not that is is any of your business but your sources are not reliable. Here are the facts: They moved about a year ago. Several people have been interested in the house and offers have been made. It was a beautiful home and well worth the money they were asking. They did move to Arizona and are doing quite well. They like it so well that a return to Kansas was not even a possibility. All of you will be ashamed when they find it was more than likely just an act of God. The initial reports are that lightning struck the house, smoldered, and eventually ignited. Not convenient, absolutely devestating. Devestating to the family and all of their friends. Sorry that in your miserable life that you decide to be cavalier about someone else's life and feelings. Too bad because the Pratt's have great friends and lots of support still in Junction City. From a true friend of the Pratt family

well the pratt lovers seem to stick up for a so called friend. have at it i don't care. facts will be facts and it seems when people found out about the fire and knowing pratt doubt was the first thing that came to minds. enough is enough sticking up for the shysters of junction city. here is what www.wibw.com and the fire chief say. Fire crews were cleaning up for hours Tuesday after a fire ripped through one Junction City home. Neighbors called in the fire around 6 a.m. at 1709 Oak Ridge Drive. The blaze engulfed most of the space. The house has been for sale since march, so no one was in the house. Junction City Battalion Fire Chief Craig Paxton says the nature of the fire raises some questions. Investigators say the cause is still undetermined.
