And paid for on sunday by writing tickets to every one who try's to drive a car thru Duquesne by the crooked and out of control police department there. Check out how many road construction related tickets police there wrote between monday aug. 10 and wed. aug 13 about 300???????? maybe? Check it out globe if you want an interesting story!

I try to give Duquense police dept the benefit of the doubt, but then they pull crap like this. Come on....15 mph before you reach the roundabout. I've never seen such a reduction in speed, even in other construction zones, whether on the highway, or in Joplin. Old ladies pushing shopping carts full of groceries go faster than that. I know tickets were given out like crazy for that trap.
This is exactly why small town police departments get bad reputations. |

Ha! That is sooo funny. Guess how many tickets were issued for that 15 MPH thing.....NONE. It will not be inforced because it is not a legal posting by state law, it is only a suggestion. You cant give tickets for a suggested speed limit. You say that is how small cities get a bad rep.....It is actualy because people like "Iknow" run their mouth about things claiming they are fact when they in reality the only thing they really know is how to stir up troule. Why dont you open your mouth only when what you are going to say is really a fact and you really do know what you are talking about. Oh, and thanks for helping with that bad reputation thing!

Thanks for being such an informative BITCH in your response.
By the way Ms. or Mr. know it all, it's enforced, not inforced, the word actually is spelled with two "L's" not one, the word CAN'T has an apostrophe in it, "trouble" has a "b" in it and "DON'T" also has an apostrophe in it. If you're going to sound off like some smart ass know it all, then at least act like you have enough common sense to know how to spell a simple word like trouble. I do know many tickets were issued for a variety of reasons during the roundabout construction. I was told by several people who live in that area that they were given a ticket for exceeding the 15 MPH speed limit. While the jury is still out on that one, I and several other people do believe the DPD were over zealous in their quest to hand out tickets. You have your opinion, we have ours. And thank you sooo much for the information about the "suggested" speed limit. Now I and anyone else who reads this knows it is only a "suggested" speed limit. Good to know! Have a wonderful day! |

I too was told by some people from Duquesne they were given a ticket for going over the 15 MPH speed limit. I guess YouDontKnow is calling them all liars.
And to address your comment about YouDontKnow's bitchy response, you're right. It's responses like theirs that usually keep me from reading comments on sites like this. I agree that the DPD seemed a little too eager to hand out tickets, which does give them a bad rep. Sorry YouDontKnow, but police departments do get bad reps, that's the nature of the job. YouDontKnow's response is typical of an aggressive and somewhat childish display of loyality. |

Youdontknow is most likely a middle-aged, over weight female with little or no social life. Probably divorced and bitter, possibly even childless. She spends her spare time discussing everyone's business, feeling self rightous but in reality she knows just wasting away.

Sorry my reply sounded so "bitchy." I just get frustrated when people say things that could have a negative effect on others when they dont know what they are talking about. Its a normal reaction. Just like when someone makes a point that you cant respond to so you point out all of the mis-spelled words and punctuation errors to try and not feel so dumb yourself. It happens..no biggy.
As for the people that claim they have gotten tickets for the 15 MPH speed limit, yes I am calling them all liars. 100% I will not tell you how, but I know that no tickets were issued for the speed limit of 15. And no, Im not a cop there but you will have to trust me on this...Im not just talking out the side of my face. I really know. Also, the 15 MPH honestly is just a suggested speed WHILE IN THE ROUND ABOUT. It cannot be inforced. It is the same as the yellow signs that have a lower speed limit you see before you go around a sharp curve, it is suggested for safety but the actual speed limit for that particular part is still whatever it was before on the same road. Sign has to be white reflective at a certain demention with letters and numbers of a specified size and legaly voted in by the municipality before it can be inforced as far as tickets go. And even then, the state of MO. has to approve it first and they will not approve going from 35 to 15. It has to go down in 10 MPH steps. Hope this helps clear some rumors. Sorry u thought I was Bitchy. |
