My previous comments are entirely based on information about the Razorback baseball team.
I have not mentioned any other Arkansas team,..... frankly because there is no other Arkansas team in the CWS, I reckon. I can assure you that if ASU or UCA were playing in the CWS, I'd be supporting them to win.
I am on record many times as acknowledging my upmost respect for ASU Basketball Coach John Brady.
There is no questioning my admiration for Gus Malzahn.
ASU fans just haven't learned how to talk sports without letting it making them mad. ASU is undoubtably rising in the ranks, but they are of course still in the lower ranks of overall D-1 sports nationally speaking.
Simply said, They are "n00bs" to big time college sports. Even their name is still new as proven by many people in this state still inquire about the Indians, ocassionally.
ASU fans need to first and foremost accept the FACT that the Razorbacks will never, ever give them a game then they will be more pleasant to talk to. Why doesn't matter, it just ain't going to happen.
A fluke meeting could be a possibility, especially in basketball, but it will never be a scheduled game by UA.
Then, ASU fans need to pony up for their team. It's easy to come to Topix and say "I was there" ... but you should've taken 3 more with you because you gotta lot of empty seats.
The upcoming season (football) is in my opinion one of the most anticipated seasons for ASU in history of ASU football. There is national interest in Gus's first season with a hot-handed quarterback. ASU will undoubtably be a focus point for ESPN,(as long as the Wolffies are winning), due mostly to the Gus Malzahn factor. Gus is famous for winning everywhere he goes. ASU is no different.
BUT!!!
Will ASU fans be there?
Or will they be here on Topix bashing the HOGS for not putting ASU on the schedule?
As long as ASU fans feel they "need" a game with Arkansas,..... ASU remains 2nd tier to the Razorbacks in this state.
And i will never understand why Hog fans can't realize that most ASU fans could care less about playing the HOgs...the Hogs are, well, just the Hogs...that team across the state that "obviously" think they're better than everyone else...that's what rankles us the most...the air of superiority you cast on ASU. People just like you! I can talk sports with the best of them, usually with fans of another team that respects ASU for what it is, was, and will be. But you'll never hear that from most Hog fans. And as long as there are fans in this state like you who look down on ASU with derision, you can rest assured thare are a few more who are paying attention, and you can be sure i'll be there to defend ASU! A little good natured ribbing is one thing, but you and others like you TRY to make people mad, otherwise you wouldn't be here. It's like it's your one purpose in life, other than your political agenda, to bash ASU, well Mr. i'm gonna be there to speak up for the little guy. ASU may be second tier in this state forever for all i care, but i can certainly respect a school that has had to claw and dig for respect in the very state that is it's namesake. Hog fans can easily sit back and pat themselves on the back, and say, look at little ol' ASU, look what they are trying to be, aren't they ridiculous! They think they can play with the big boys! What you don't realize is that sometimes being the big boy isn't the best, most ASU fans know where our school stands, we have no illusions.
It seems every post there are always those ASU fans that whine about why the Hogs won't play ASU....i'll give those ASU fans some good advice...STFU! Stand behind your school, and get your a** to the games...give a little money if you can, but shut up about the Hogs! You're just giving these Pig morons more fuel to pile on their fire! We can be anything we choose without any help from ANY other school, but it depends on the fans, NOT the Hogs...

I have to agree with most of that post. ASU fans need to STFU and support your school and not worry about the HOGS. ASU is getting better in athletics and that is a good thing for all. ASU fans need to give money and go to the games and all else will take care of itself. For the part about HOG fans not likeing ASU and looking down on them, well that is not true for 99.9% of the HOG fans. Just let me say this. I go to both schools games and am an Alum of UA. Here is my observation from many years of going to both.
At ASU games the conversation usually turns to how much ASU wants to play the HOGS and how ASU could beat the HOGS and how scared UA is to play and on and on and on... And if a UA score is announced at the ASU game and UA is getting beat, the crowd cheers with happiness. That is a fact and just the way it is.
At a Razorback game, the conversation is always about other SEC schools and who they are playing or where they are ranked or what bowl game we think we or they might go to and such. If the in-state scores are announced during the game and ASU or UCA or any other instate school is winning, the crowd cheers and if they are losing everyone boos. So, the general reaction of 72,000 fans is a pretty good indication of how the fan base feels about another team. There is as many NEA fans at a HOG game as there are at an ASU game and these NEA fans generally pull for both the HOGS and ASU. It is just a different crowd at a HOG game. First of all, the tickets are $60 bucks each and you dont have alot of trashy people paying $240 to take a family to a game. And, you certainly don't get any free tickets given out to schools or groups to entice them to come to a game. I understand you do what you gotta do to put butts in the seats but that brings a different crowd along with it.
Go Hogs and Go Red Wolves!

Your comment is a fabrication of your own thinking.

As was just described by the previous poster, you ASU fans are just imagining that Arkansas fans "bashes" ASU. I have been to many many Arkansas football games and I've never heard ASU mentioned.

I can safely promise that if a person goes to Reynolds Stadium wearing a ASU T-shirt, Arkansas fans would probably asl about Gus and wish ASU luck.

I can just as easily promise you that if a person goes to an ASU game sporting a HOG shirt, he will be disrespected and harrassed in front of his family.----- I've seen it happen.

This phoney ASU/Arkansas "rivalry" is a figment of a few ASU fan's imagination.

Quite frankly, ASU fans and Arkansas fans can't even discuss sports on this page due to the rudeness and whinning from a few ASU supporters. They love to insult and are easily insulted.

I go to every ASU Home Football and Basketball game. There is always some fans wearing Hog Gear, but I have never seen any Hog fan disrespected or Harrassed! It may have happened, but I've never seen it. Hope they didn't get their feelings hurt too bad. I'm just glad some Hog fans go to our games!!

I'm just pointing out the fact that it's useless to put billboards on I-40 promoting the Redwolfs if your fans are going to be counterproductive by insulting new game goers.

I just visited 4 different SEC states while on vacation. I wore a HOG shirt every day for the entire 9 days journey. I saw Ole Miss fans, Miss St fans, Alabama fans, LSU fans, and Tennesse fans ...... not once was I insulted, yet talked SEC sports with them all.

Wear a HOG shirt in Jonesboro, and see what happens.

I do go to every home game ASU plays. I still want a game between them. Come on. It will be better than playin the University of Memphis High School. I want to shut them up. Look how stAte did against Auburn (their national champ year) Virginia Tech and Illinois. I think Hog fans are afraid

Yes but very close games. Auburn game was closer than when Hogs played them that year. stAte was the only team to hold VTech to 6 points in 4th quarter all year

I agree with you Cathouse Mouse! Close only counts in Horseshoes and Hand Gernades! I still don't understand you saying Hog fans are mistreated by ASU fans. You are dead wrong on that. People wearing Hog cloths are everywhere in this state, including Jonesboro. When I see a Hog shirt, I don't think anything about it.

My imagination....let's look back a few posts here, and at many other Topix discussions on this matter...there are as many or more Pig fans bashing ASU as vice versa. You're only looking at it from the Pig perspective, since you are the leading one doing the bashing. You constantly spout "cute" little derogatory comments about ASU, so don't give me that bull about Pig fans not "thinking" about ASU...ASU is contantly on your mind, as evidenced by your posts here. "Rudeness and whining"? Take a look in the mirror, dude! YOU love to insult! Like i said before, you may consider it whining and being insulted, i call it defending my school, and i'll do it until i die aginst any chest thumping Pig that wants to go at it! And while i may root for a low level Sun Belt team, i do go to every home game and some away games, i know ASU football inside and out, and watch most college football games, and looking at it strictly from a football fans' perspective, ASU would give the Pigs all they wanted and more if they ever did play. Arkansas kids are all over the roster on the ASU team now, as well as kids from other states that know fully well the football landscape in this state. And while i don't sit around dreaming of an ASU/Pig matchup, if it did happen the Pigs would have to play for all they were worth....the one game they could NOT afford to lose...ASU has nothing to lose.

I don't think about it either..because it's much more rare than it used to be. Although last year i had to hold myself back when i was walking through the tailgating area, and there were some people sitting there under a tent with a big screen TV watching the Pig game....well, that's ok, but you're at an ASU tailgate, how about getting up off your a## and buying a ticket and coming inside and support ASU.....or get the f**k outta here? How about that, a**wipes? To each his own i guess.....but wearing a Hog shirt inside the game, no prob, we'll take your money! The game i saw the most Hog shirts at was the UCA game...and cheering for UCA, the Pig fans' little darlings!

Cancer

Try to get out and about today because it will do you good to have a change of scene. Even you, a home-loving Cancerian, can start to feel stale and bored if you're stuck in one place for too long, so try to vary your surroundings as much as possible today. Social events will go well, too, and you'll enjoy talking to people who make you think.
