Okay, so everyone loves these books. I dont get it. Sure they had a lot of sex. But the whole dominant and submissive thing is not a turn on o me. Is this really such a hot idea to people? Most of the people reading these are not avid readers so i guess they didn't realize lots of books can be sexy without being so repetitively porn. I didn't think they were very well written yet sooooo many people just love them. I read them, forcing my way through them, thinking they must get better or have a climax,(no pun intended) only to be a bit let down with the fifth grade writing ability with usage of a overly sexual topic. I would like to hear from others who read this trilogy. Am i missing what was so great about fifty shades?

Waiting for the movie.

The harder words were misplaced sometimes. Or she used a thesaurus. I will give her credit for hitting a genre that just made her rich for life.

I am an avid reader of all types of books, including romances, and this did not compare. Poorly written, boring, not realistic, people acting out of character. Everyone that I have heard talking about them admits they don't even read books. If they did, they would recognize literary garbage. Are they that desperate for some sex in their lives that they would endure this crap? I actually only read a few chapters of the first book, and gave up. It was that bad.

About to read them myself. I too am a avid reader so if it sucks I will be highly disappointed! I finally read all the Hunger Games books (not my norm) but I loved them. I guess between Janet Evanovich, J.D. Robb aka Nora Roberts I'm spoiled, but like to try new things from time to time.

I loved the hunger games. Good example well written books with out using sex to grab the readers attention. Most people who are reading fifty shades and love it, that i have talk to, have not been avid readers. Nora Roberts who spits out sexy romance novels like its nothing, makes these fifty shades books read like a badly written high school paper. And i truly don't find it a turn on that he wants to physically hurt her. Even Stephanie Meyer had better character build up, including her sexual tension with out the xxxxxxR sex. Fifty shades has no sexual build up, its just in your face, repetitive sex. I wish i hadnt wasted my money or time.

50 shades was dubbed " Mommy Porn " by the critics. Personally, I agree that the writer hit the mark on genre and is rolling in the dough for it now. I've never read it and don't plan to though. I stick to Sci Fi or horror.

I personally thought these books were so poorly written it was almost a crime. The main characters were so vapid and silly it was almost caused me to vomit. She was a clueless "virgin damsel in distress." Christain was portrayed as a controlling stalkeresque a-hole.

I was clueless as a virgin...didn't act to know what I was doing nor did I know! I wouldn't think Ana would know either

Its amazing how much everyone loves these! With her saying things like " i can relax around my fifty when he is not thinking of harming me......." wth? s that really what turns any women on? He loves you he just wants to beat the sh*t out of you to show you? Thats gross. I cant even fully appreciate it as just an interesting story and way of looking at things because even the writing sucks. The dialogue is ridiculously unbelievable. Surely no one speaks so formal to their lover. She in all characteristics us his submissive. He is a dousch and she is a spineless sad example of a women. These books are fifty shades of sh*t.

The majority of these book series that blow up and make tons of money suck. The Twilight books are horrendous. The Hunger Games books aren't much better. It's like they were written by 14 year old girls. I'm betting this series is the same.

Well the beginning is kinda boring! The book itself is good! I don't know if I'd go as far as to say its a "woman's porn" but yea.. There's times when I don't want to stop reading!

have not read the books but talked to women who have. Many women are going to get themselves into trouble after reading the books and think they are submissive and look for a Dom to give them what they think they need. BDSM is not a love story for the most part. Doms use subs and subs are people who need to be used. it is a symbiotic relationship. These mommies and wives who haven't had a good jump in years are going to find a Dom and then they are going to find out he is not goint to spend the session telling them how pretty her dress is, how pretty her eyes are, how tight she is, how sweet she is, etc. He most likely isn;t going to be as affectionate as she expects because she thinks it is about love and it is not. It is about control. Any of you mommies out there wanna find out?
