Heck, why not just ban "all" vehicular traffic during certain hours in all school zones? Again, this venture is just a little less than a band-aid fix. The real problem can't be legislated as it is just a simple lack of responsibility and using good common sense. I know I will be showing my age with this, but do any of you remember the old school message of "stop, look, and listen" when crossing a street or railroad? Mr Huguley is oh so correct in his statement. The jay-walking public is very lucky and it is amazing that we don't have many more pedestrian accidents/deaths in El Paso. This applies to adults all over the city as well as school students. Think how many times you see people walk against the light or just cross the street without a hesitation.

That's all well and good. Now if we could only get the teachers to oppose illegal immigrants in our schools as well.

Uh oh...I found myself agreeing with the letter before I saw that Brendan Boyd wrote it. I haven't read any of the comments yet, but I'm sure that Mr. Boyd's letter will crack some nutty crackpots and infuriate their bombastic egos.

The Republicans I liked are few and far between. I've always admired Bob Dole. But I can't think of any right now that I admire. The GOP is infected by Hannityitis and Limbauhosis. Republicans sound more and more like the things which they accuse Democrats of being. Fascism comes to mind.

WTF, what's does any poltical party especially the Republicans have to do with this discussion?

Look at the speeders in the school zones, most are teachers, parents dropping off children or the teenagers themselves. As usual, the attitude, that someone else is at fault.

If the EPPD could keep people from parking in cross walks, I'd give this a 48% chance of working, as it is, enforcement of this has a snowballs chance in hell.

how about instead of the pedestrians not use cell phones...the drivers watch where they are going that could work a whole lot better!!!
