Sunnyland Sanitary District is raising rates 280% from $25 per month to $70 per month.$140 per billing cycle! This is the highest sewer bill in the country.
Is it just me? Or is this completely ludicrous? Joliet ran-up their lifestyle and now they want us to pay for it! We need to start a meeting. It is not a flow problem. The average sewer charge for a Joliet resident is between 9 and 12 dollars. We have been paying more than that for 27 years! |

ok i would say that your case is valid for the poll, but it is flawed.. since there is no other options.. basically its one sided.. try again..

Judged: 1 joliet has been making a mistake in there billing for the last twenty years they have just caught it and have since corrected it . we have been paying so much per 1000 units when it was suppose to be per 100 units. we are not part of the city of joliet . our rates are not subsidized we pay them and they make a profit on us.we pay the same rate as others who use joliet for sewage disposal |

Judged: 1 Vernon, read your own letter back to yourself very slowly. You might understand simple math and english. There should be 850,000,mulas in that account, or more like 1.3 mil. Don't screw your neighborhood. |

Vern. Thank you so much for finally joining our discusion. This is all about "how much does Joliet charge SSD verses their own people. As well as Where is this flow meter and who are the officials that dictated this astronomical increase. I thought you as a representitive of our community would be out of favor for this increase. |

Also in the other thread a woman stated that she just moved in and you are trying to get money from her, from what i can see, the money of the last owner of the house.. dont you put leins on peoples houses.. to make sure you are paid the money before the house is sold.. Go read the other sunnyland thread

Judged: 2 2 2 Don't let anyone fool you into thinking such a large increase is necessary, or even legal. Even taking into account the dubious claim of 'misread meters', the increase proposed does not match up to the publicly available numbers provided to the state by the district. Fiscally, there should be an increase of around 55%. 270% will no doubt attract the attention of the Attorney General, and other state watchdog groups. You can see for yourself the balance sheet of the district here; http://www.apps.ioc.state.il.us/Office/LocalG... |

i can believe that abritage would miss state facts.. just an unhappy person who probably didnt go to the meeting.. Just to let you know.. if there were any problems, the state and county would have taken action.. Since the state audits the books, and finances, they would have caught anything at that time. I would love to see abritage present his facts to a court of law, and get laughed out of court for misreading reports.. I cant believe he believes that there 1050 households in Sunnyland. what a jerk.. yes im bashing him big time.. and he deserves it.. im laughing at him..

Population: 1,050
That information is pulled right form the reports submitted to the state. Belief has nothing to do with it, that is the number that is in the report submitted by the Sunnyland sanitary district itself. All you have to do is click the link I posted, its on the first page. Cant miss it. Either way, that still has nothing to do with the increase. The percentage of the bill that goes to the fees the city of Joliet charges does not add up to the same percentage after the increase. Total Bill =(Sewer fees)+(Capital Expenditures)+(Reserves)+(Admi nistrative) If sewer fees to the City of Joliet go up by 10X, because of the 'metering problem', the above method will tell you how much the fees should go up. Im not claiming that an increase isnt necessary, I am claiming that the numbers dont match up to the reasons given by the district. But I think its amusing that you assume I live there, simply because I have an opinion on it. Honestly, I think the increase will work just like intended. The people who cant afford it will move, and those that can will move in. Odds are, the new people will clean the place up a bit. Its called gentrification, and it happens all the time. |

What now your correcting yourself.. here is your post.. 1050 accounts!!! get a life |
|
I misquoted the number of accounts with total individuals, since depending on what public record you look at it is labeled differently. When Im wrong in a detail, I correct myself and acknowledge it. That's what adults do. The difference between population and accounts is not the main point of the post though, is it? The percentage of cost in the structure of what makes up the total bill is. Would you care to check those other numbers and equations as well? Post your results and equation used showing why my calculations above are wrong. Simply saying 'get a life' does not really refute the math, nor does pointing out a correction of a mislabeled columns name. The calculations above use numbers, not words. And the number, 1050, didn't change at all. You seriously don't have to believe a word out of my mouth. But if you aren't doing the math yourself, you shouldn't be believing the words out of anyone else's mouth either. However, I have a feeling you will only be able to focus on the irrelevant errors that you can find, instead of responding to the overall point of the post. You are going to have to step it up, Im not coming down to your level. |
