Watch the clerk get all the charges thrown at him. No FOID, illegal possession of a weapon, illegal possession of ammunition, etc.

The gun belonged to the owner of the liquor store.

Yeah there could be a problem but let him be judged by the jurors who would never convict him. Will County does not need anymore bad publicty so they should let it go and give him an award for keeping us all safe.

I like to fact that the robber had to drive himself to hospital, we didn't have to pay for that ride.

A family member who works at a Joliet Speedway station said that the perp loitered there several times close to their shift changes, hoping to catch the employees in confusion.

If the clerk doesn't go to jail, that will say a lot about gun laws. Heck if he gets away with it, then I can shoot people I don't like and claim they tried to rob me.

He was working for a business and someone tried to rob him. He has the right to defend himself. How do you know he did not have a gun and ditched it when he got back to his car, We do not need scum like that robbing people.

So if someone came into your house would you run out of the house or if you had a gun get that. I am glad he will not beable to rob another person again. You have a right to protect your property.

You got it all wrong. What you should say is that the robber was a dumbass risking his own life to rob a store for a few hundred dollars. He assumed the clerk would act like a coward (much like yourself) and run like a bitch. Instead he robbed a man with a gun who was not afraid to use it. End result one dead stupid ass POS and one man setting an example for all other dirtbags who even think of trying the same bs.

WTF (I'm certain that means "Wisdom To Flaunt"), you are right on the money.
That little clerk saved a lot of money, time, and public safety with one shot.
IMagine if that scumbag perp had gotten out of there aive and well:
1)$$$ to chase him down
2) Public peril while the jerk was driving around town
3)$$$ for a public defender to defend his sorry ass
4) A continuing tradition for bad guys of thinking "this place is easy to knock off"
One shot accomplished what a carload of shrinks, social workers, and lawyers couldn't accomplish: it made the city safer in a damned big hurry.

I have been going to that store for many years. The people up there are nothing but kind and friendly to their customers. I say, GOOD FOR THEM ! They have the right to defend their business. Look back at the guy’s track record that tried to rob the place. Sorry he passed away but that is the chance you take stealing from other people.
The store owner and worker should not be charged with anything !

the clerk had a foid card. the robber chased him into the cooler. it was self-defence. it was also more than one shot. but the first shot was probably the fatal one. i am pleased to know this clerk! i put him on the same level as all our military men and women!

It's tragic that a HUMAN BEING is DEAD. He was a fool to try and rob a liquor store, and he may have had a rap sheet as long as a clever pun, but he didn't try to murder anyone. You should all take a minute to think about that. I don't think the clerk should be thrown in Stateville, but there is a reason that we have a penal system to punish robbers. The US system is about rehabilitation, not hoping that someone was in physical pain while they drove to the hospital to die. A string-'em-up mentality catches a lot of innocent people in its net, and I can very easily see some blatant racism in a few of these posts.

A white girl where was there any mention about race? Do you mean we are all black and saying good a white guy was killed? Or that we are white and good a black guy was killed? It just shows you lack of education. Not one person said anything about the race of the person who protected himself or the criminial. YOu just sound like a bleeding heart that does not think people can protect themselves. How many chances should a person get this was not like it was his first offense.
