This is the man that will take Johnstown out of it's 1970's mentality and into the 21st Century.

Tim Burns has never financially helped any Republican candidate for state office. Not even with a $5.00 contribution. He didn't help Tom Ridge become Governor. He didn't help Mike Fisher or Lynn Swann in their efforts to defeat liberal Ed Rendell. And he hasn't supported local Republican candidates fighting Rendell's tax, borrow and spend policies in Harrisburg like Senators John Pippy and Jane Orie or State Representative Mike Turzi.
On the federal level, he's never contributed to a candidate to defeat Jack Mutha, whom he called "an embarrassment." He never helped former Congresswoman Melissa Hart or former Congressman Phil English (both were defeated) or current Congressmen Tim Murphy or Bill Shuster.
He didn't help Senator John McCain in his campaign to defeat Barrack Obama. And he didn't support President George W. Bush with even a small donation against liberals Al Gore and John Kerry.
But now the state Party wants everyone to help Burns! But Tim Burns has never done anything to help any other Republican candidates except a one-time donation to Rick Santorum. Burns is not a team player!

So a person is judged by how much money they give to a politician? I wonder how much Mr. Doty has contributed to candidates.

Tim Burns’s ads depict a home town boy. However, he never says anything about his business and his business location or where he lived and worked between college and his relocation to Johnstown??
If you think Burns is doing something great by getting Congress Shuster's support, you should check Shuster's voting record. He has never voted for any legislation for the common folks. He is all big business as was his father. He father Former Congressman Bud Shuster is a lobbyist as he Shuster’s brother Robert. It would appear that Burns will follow the Shuster’s to congress and big busnesss.

I actually went to high school with Tim Burns (JHS/1986) and I can tell you that he is regular guy who just happens to have a brilliant mind. He grew up in Hornerstown and from what I recall he had a lower-class upbringing. He was always very intelligent so it comes as no surprise to anyone who knew him in high school that he would later become a self-made millionaire. It blows me away how people criticize his business success because he did it completely on his own. Tim Burns is a true Johnstown success story.

Murtha's gone and his welfare state lives on. It's time to stop feeding at the public trough people and start focusing on attracting real jobs in the private sector. Tim Burns once employed 400 people in his own company and that is exactly the kinds of real jobs that the Johnstown area needs. 35 years of government bailouts to the region has accomplished absolutely nothing. There's still no jobs and folks are still fleeing year after year.

Lies, lies, lies. The ads by the dems that talk about Tim Burns wanting a 23% tax. Only as part of a Fair Tax that would REPLACE the fed income tax. You keep all of your pay and pay a federal sales tax. Don't need an expensive, car, boat, tv, house? You'll pay lots less than the people who want the big items...people like drug dealers, and those who do work for cash only...lots more $$ coming into the treasury. See it at www.FairTax.org and find out how it works...then elect someone in favor of it to make it work...for YOU!

The ads by the DCCC are very misleading. Tim Burns should not shy away from his statements supporting the Fair Tax. With this race being in the national spotlight, Burns has a chance to help move this great proposal along and use it a tool to help him get elected. The Fair Tax: Eliminate the IRS; no federal tax forms and paperwork; you keep all federal deductions in your paycheck; monthly federal rebate check to the poverty level spending; the underground economy pays their fair share at the point of sale; no sales tax on used cars, only new car sales, etc. If the general public would educate themselves on this proposal they would embrace it. Tim Burns is a loser of a candidate. They way he was selected was very improper. He has no chance whatsoever in November.

I met Tim Burns and find him arrogant and not particularly brilliant or even bright for that matter.

In addition to not supporting candidates financially, I believe I read somewhere that he didn't even VOTE regularly!

See ya 'round Tim.

Russell is/was your classic carpetbagger. No thanks. Unlike Virginia native Russell, Burns is a Johnstown native from the Hornerstown neighborhood so he is the only logical choice.

I agree with your carpetbagger characterization and as such, I do not think Russell was the perfect candidate.....however, consider the demographics of the district.....old people! Burns is not the kind of candidate that connects with this most important group in our district. He is young and very wealthy which plays absolutely horribly in this district. The older working class people simply cannot relate. I have not studied the voting results, but I believe that Burns would be somewhat strong with stauch conservatives, but very weak with getting democrats to ditch their candidate in his favor, and I am sure you know that any Republican hoping to win PA-12 must get substantial support from democrats. I think Russell was much better suited to get democratic support.

I never thought Burns or Russell were all that charismatic. I have seen them both speak and I left very disappointed.

If Murtha would not have died and Burns and Russell faced off in a traditional primary, I think Russell may have been able to win.

You have to admit that Burns has ZERO chance in November.

I see those $2 billion in earmarks that Murtha brought into the region did a lot of good now didn't it? Johnstown and the surrounding areas still look like it's living in the Great Depression. Some of you idiots still can't comprehend that government handouts will never bring economic recovery to the region, never. Private sector jobs are the only answer and that's what Tim Burns brings to the table. All of you uneducated welfare bums who will vote for Mark Critz because you got used to government freebies from Murtha are the reason why Johnstown will remain depressed for many decades to come. Dumbasses.

....This is a typical Republican response. Quick to hurl insults if an opinion doesnt agree with yours. Assuming what others are thinking, having the audacity to suggest that anyone who votes for Critz is an uneducated welfare bum, "used to government freebies",and once again, saying little about your own candidate.
"Tim Burns will bring private sector jobs to the table" That is such a old, worn out empty political promise used thousands of times over by candidates who have little to nothing to run on of their own. Its the same old tired Republican politics, and Burns will have his ass handed to him a second time.

Johnstown's been stuck on the distressed city's list since 1992 and it's 100% the fault of the voters. That Democratic monopoly that exists in the region has really created a boomtown now hasn't it? LMFAO.
