If you think the status quo stinks, just wait for Obama the Redeemer to implement his healhcare program. It's going to cost everyone big bucks with the exception of illegal aliens who'll still get free healthcare provided by "grants" (taxpayers' money) to outfits like Keystone. On the other hand, Obama's healthcare plan will probably include illegals.

What a shame so many comments that are negative about the health care workers. Well to the people that complain you had a choice to go to school and earn a license to become a nurse also. The fact is you only gripe and whine about everything when you had the same chance as everyone else. You do not have a clue to what is involved working with sick and injured people or what risks are involved. The next time you get sick think of all the crap you whined about. Maybe you will appreciate there is someone there to care for your pathetic self. If you are on my floor and you complain I will surely give you a big box of tissues and a baby bottle.

Well good for them - now the rest of use will pay through higher health care premiums passed on to us (if your one of the luckly ones to have coverage).

Anytime you get a 97% vote for a contract YOU GAVE TOO MUCH. It just proves that the vast majority of the employees were happy and management caved in to the demands of a very few. There is no one in the area that will get 18% over the next 4 years. Now the hospital has set the trend for the teacher unions, etc. Not your finest hour, Norm.
I think you have this all wrong. Just a week ago 87% of the employees voted to go on strike I think that says the majority was NOT HAPPY with what the hospital was offering.

I just want to personally thank all the union reps for working so hard to get us a fair contract. I did not realize till this week that all the time you put into representing us is your own personal time. You all did a great job and it means alot to me. All the employees should be proud of you and thanking you....thanks again.

I am disappointed and disheartened by all of the negative comments posted by the public, you should be ashamed of yourselves. These employees work hard to serve YOU, and to give YOU the best care. And you repay them with such animosity.
The hospital employees are trying to survive just like everyone else these days. And to those complaining about their health care costs increasing, just remember, hospital employees don't get their healthcare for free. They pay just like everyone else.
Did any of you ever take into consideration what this "not-for-profit" organization made in the last 2 years? I should think not.
And to the individual who stated that this set the standard for the teacher's unions, well then that is also wonderful! You probably are okay w/ movie stars and sports stars making multi-million dollars a year for entertainment purposes.
But, hey who cares about the individuals who educate and care for you and your families.
I say congratulations to all of the hospital employees for a well-deserved contract! And thank-you for all of the wonderful care you give this community!
No, the employees are not just trying to survive; they want everything handed to them. I hope you all know that you NOW better give 110% to the community. The expectation of every patient that enters your hospital will expect the best care ever. The union has now set the standard in healthcare. I know that healthcare premiums at the hospital ARE free to the employee, so you should get your information straight. No, they do not pay 100% of your bill but I guess since you do not want to contribute to your own pention and future you do not think you should be responsible for your own healthcare costs either. I am sickened by the people who feel like somebody owes them something. These employees cried "Oh poor me"! Watch what your union dues over the next couple of months. You could be investing all that money you are giving to the union reps to fill their pockets. The cap is gone so watch out you higher paid employees....they will go after your deep pockets first.

I for one did not read any where in these post that a health care worker stated that somebody owes them anything.Only the full time employees get their health care premiums paid for.

People in this community are always out for the ones that want to better themselves. It don't matter where you work or who you are or what you do when you ask for more money or better benefits the cost is all ways passed on to the consumer weather it be at Wal Mart, McDonalds or Sheetz so why criticize the employees at the hospital? Just stop and think before you open up your mouth!

Jen try doing some research. Many experts are saying McCains health care plans will encourage employers to do away with employee healthcare altogether. See what that cost when you have no insurance. He also wants to do away with Social Security, because it is a disgrace younger workers should have to pay for older people.

The government has already determined businesses can walk away from retirement programs if they decide it is in the best interest of the company. People near retirement and already retired have suddenly lost their retirement because companies have determined they could make more money if they no longer paid their retirees.

Time for change, and a confused old man ain't going to cut it.

As it's been stated before...Life isn't fair. You chose your career. Maybe you should have been a nurse or a teacher. If your job sucks that much and you don't make enough money, have no pension, or bad insurance...then get a degree and become a nurse or a teacher. MAKE A CHANGE OR STOP THE WHINING!!!!
Way to go! I have been saying this for years! Every "whiner" is failing to miss the point that Americans are able to "choose" their occupations. Lest we forget the high levels of education that are required for health care professionals and teachers and that education is on a continuing basis! We are also held to high standards set by officials in Harrisburg who haven't worked in schools or hospitals for who knows how long!!!! We are limited in how we can discipline "Johnny" and, heaven forbid, if Johnny doesn't meet the state standards, it's not Johnny's fault or Johnny's parents' fault -- it's MY fault!!!!!!!! And I teach 120 "Johnnys" every year!!!!!!!

I can see you were not in the top of your english class.....It don't? weather?
**********
All the community is saying is stop thinking you are the only employees that have been asked to change your retirement plan. There are a lot of very educated people out here that have to participate in a 401k or 403b to support their future retirement. Use your 4% increase to take an english class!

It's the consumers that lose. And, Yes, 97% shows they got too much. The employers need to say this is THE job. Take it or leave it. If too many leave -- you THEN raise the pay and/or benefits until you have the staffing you need.
