Yes, FP is definitely is not what it was 15 yrs ago. I grew up just outside the village and I can remember when Center St. was the nicest street in town. All the houses were kept in good condition and everyone was civil. HUD is what started the flaming downward spiral of FP. Since I moved out 10 yrs ago the village has done nothing but get worse. Teen pregnancy has sky rocketed and welfare has to. FP is not alone; STJ and Canjo are the same way. Montgomery County has let it happen, the people running the county has done nothing in years to bring in business. They want people to live in the county but work somewhere else. When business moves out it puts the entire tax burden on the residence, as you can see that doesn’t work. People can afford to pay the taxes and keep up their homes.
I only come to FP for a small group of people, after a retirement and a graduation I will probably never go back. Maybe a Funeral. You don’t really see what the town is like until you are out of town for awhile and go back. The town is in very bad condition and is in need of an enema. Welfare benefits need to be cut back to max of two children, any more than that you are on your own. In another post someone said “there are more baby strollers than cars” they aren’t far from the truth. There are a lot of good people in FP, some an afraid to move, some can’t afford to move, and some don’t realize they should move. Others are oxygen thieves and want someone else to support their lazy a**’s. Ask anyone you know who has moved, especially someone who has moved out of state. I bet they will tell you they do not miss FP. |
