Interested Citizens of Fort Plain...let's watch the administration of this grant money very carefully. It used to be YOUR money and now it's back so I hope it goes towards improving the appearance of our streets, especially those coming into the village. Appearance,Apppearance is what initially attracts business and new taxpayers to our village.I love this forum!!!!

Is this what is funding the bridge repair in the area? If so, how much and how do we keep track?

I don't believe it's being used for the bridges. they were sta rted a while back and this is brand new. Join us at the village board mtgs, third Tuesday of each month at 7pm at the Village Office on Canal St. We'll ask for progress report, who's on the committee, etc. each time. Our mayor and trustees think our village is ok. We need more citizens at the mtgs to let them know our village is NOT ok. We have to cut down on the number of low income apts. in our downtown area. I am not opposed to any group but I am opposed to disgusting public conduct. Thanks for caring..

I git my check on the 1st and the 15th and I have lifetime health insurance with my medicaid....I ain't no teacher so I didn't have to waste 5 years going to college...I just stayed at the Greeley (R.I.P.).
Don't go messing with my HUD apartment either and stay away from Haslett Park when I'm taking a bath in the fountain.

hi,drifter No,I don't think all low income people have digusting behavior.I want to get that straight. OK on to what conduct...screaming obscenities at each other or into a cell phone while out on the street. Walking a dog and letting the dog poop and never cleaning it up. Smoking on the street and throwing the butts on the ground instead of field stripping and pocketing the filter.Or walking by a receptacle and still throwing the butt. Littering all over the streets. Putting garbage out in bags when it should be in a garbage pail so the animals can't get in it. Those are some of the conduct issues that I don't like. "It's my opinion and I'm sticking to it". thanks for writing.

some buildings have no place for a garbage pail or pails to be keep so that is no big deal. on the obcenities it dose fall under freedom of speach. sad as that is what fort plain needs is what the whole area needs jobs and tax base on business not home owners a clean town would be nice .i would not back a law against cursing out side for that just is a open door

hi,drifter nice to chat with a thinker. Yes,I see the deal with the garbage pails. and the yelling, etc. There are certain village codes for some of the problems like garbage pails with lids, unlawful to have crap on sidewalk but it isn't reported so there is little enforcement. Also, police are probably busy with something of greater consequence. I learned years ago that it is near impossible to regulate integrity. It seems that we suffer from an absence of good parenting. Have a sweet day..

The rehab grant will be great for the Village of Ft Plain. If the buildings can be spruced up and rented maybe to those with some higher standards, it will be a good thing. You have to have pride in yourself before you can have pride in your surroundings. Polly, you are right, appearance and first impressions are key!!

I am sure property in the village is in tough shape. Making it a hospitable bedroom community would be nice. How do we acquire the resources?

well since the meeting hall isn't handicap excessible ,please keep us informed ok.i'd like to see some of these abandon houses either torn down or fixed up.industries would be a plus since a majority of the town is out of work, due mainly to transportations problems.there too if jobs were provided to local residents, there would be less tardiness to work and maybe more revenue coming here.i remember this town as a child.people had work.kids respected people and properties.there were things for the town to be proud of.lets make it happen again.

also if you don't want to see things improve, maybe you should relocate to the lower areas......it takes a whole town of concerned citizens to make a town worth bragging about.mrs duffy would cry if she were alive to see how this once beautiful has deteriated due to lack of love
