this is the best news that I have heard today!! Do we DARE think that the powers that be are trying to rein in all the corruption in this state?? As for the firings not being "part of the audit"...Yeah right! Does not matter, maybe those overpaid cronies can actually find a job in the real world....good luck!

It amazes me to hear people actually comment like this! Would this be AMAZING news if it were YOU who lost your job for NO APPARENT reason at all! What happened to qualities such as human compassion, empathy, and selflessness. It no longer exists. Creeps like you simply state soem insane comment based on lack of true information. Who are you to judge others? I work 14 hours a day at times, make a decent salary, and have heard some say I make too much money! So, speak for yourself. Thou shall not judge others.........Jerkface!

Is it being overlooked, that Mr. O'Connell himself makes a larger salary than any of those employees that were let go? Also, Mr. O'Connell has someone in line to fill a "NEWLY CREATED" position! How beneficial is that to the taxpayer. As for the AOL taxpayer above, why don't you get yoursel;f a real job and quit complaining about your taxes! Who pays your salary??

Mr. O'Connell fired five of the best, most dedicated, hard working people any company could ask for. RIRCC ran smoothly for years because of these five people. Mr. O'Connell recently came in, turned things upside down, and fired these wonderful people. Keep in mind, it is MR. O'Connell who is being charged with mismanagent. Of course these firings had to do with the audit. He had to blame someone for his wrongdoings! Now that the only educated employees who knew HOW to run the company effectively are gone, good luck to you Mr. O'Connell. You're screwed!

If the hit movie "Liar, Liar" were a documentary, Mr. O'Connell would have gotten himself the main part, and a grammy!

Isn't there a board of directors at the RIRCC who are in charge of hiring and firing employees? If so, I'd like to know WHO the people are that are on the obrad. If not, is it legal for Mr. O'Connell to make these decisions himslef? This doesn't seem right. Have these five employees been found guilty of any wrongdoings? Is Mr. O'Connell letting them go before they squeal on him? It is all so strange...

Just like the Governor gets rid of the workers so he can control everything with HIS people. His people can change everything LOL what a joke.
Get rid of the top mngt people they are the ones making the final decision and causing the problems in State Govt.
Once all the hard working WORKERS are gone the Governor and his cronies will take over and since they know nothing about everything the state will have to hire all consultants to do the job. Like hire the people who they fired. How can a person who never did a job know how to do it. They talk alot but they don't know how to actually do the job. Just like everything in this state you can no longer start at the bottom and work your way up as you learn the job and what it takes to run state government.
How can a "Consultanat" a person who has never had a steady long term job learning how to do something take over and do it? YOU CAN"T that is why the State is in trouble. The Governor has never had a long term job and had to work. What does he know? He is invested in the stock market and wants the stock market to do good and other than that he does not care about small business or the people of this state or anything else.

You got THAT right! Funny thing is this O'Connell guy hired someone just thuis morning! Also, the legal fees he is about to be faced with due to these firings, is going to cost the town a whole lot more money than those five salaries. What a shmuck! This is so typical for Johnston. My heart goes out to the employess that were let go and their families. In these tough times, this must be devastating to them
