I was a medic at a three day concert at Gatlin Creek, but I believe the year was 1971. I remember Bo Diddly and BB King but the rest is a blur.

I was one of 4 promoters of the event called "A Concert at Gatlin Creek". It occurred over 3 days during November 21-23,1972, on the same land and stage as the Dripping Springs Reunion which occurred early that year (the precursor to Willie Nelson's 4th of July Picnic.) We determined that about 78,000 people attended over the 3 days.

It occurred outside Dripping Springs, rather than on the banks of Gatlin Creek, which is closer to Wimberley, TX, because the County commissioners would not grant the permit for the original site.

The lineup included:
Freddie King
Bob Seeger System
Brownsville Station
Captain Beefheart and His Magical Band
Mitch Ryder
Trapeze (warm up for the Moody Blues)
Foghat (formerly Savoy Brown)
Bo Diddley
Moody Blues (were under contract but pulled out at the last minute)
Teegarden and Van Winkle
Mike Quatro Jam Band

Howdy Cliff, I was truly excited to find your post here. I attended the Concert At Gatlin Creek and I have all the memorabilia! I have the T-shirt, ticket stub, handbill, bumper sticker and photos of my friends and me. We traveled from Dallas in a 1964 Ford Pickup with tool boxes on each side of the bed that served as our "road lockers". My girlfriend made pecan pies for us to have since it was Thanksgiving! Wow... flashbacks of a great time in the Texas Hill Country before the masses came. Peace & Happy Musical Trails! Ranger Randell PS: Let me know where I can send scanned files of all the memorabilia

Does anyone know the exact location of the event? My family owns a large section of property that includes the intersection of both South Gatlin Creek & North Gatlin Creek (also know as Dry Gatlin). Anyone? Anyone??

Hi Cliff, Thanks for your response. Do you know what band that went to San Franscio after the concert? The band members rode in a large rv, and the Lead singer drove a black mercedes.

Daily Horoscope for December 28

Capricorn

This is a marvellous day for having a discreet word in someone's ear. You'll be able to choose your words carefully, making you very tactful and considerate, and as a result you will have a helpful conversation. This is also a good opportunity to talk about topics that are very dear to your heart, or which are usually too private to mention.
