I have a question... My family just moved to TN a couple years ago. How does Johnson City/Washington County determine Trick or Treat nights for the kids in this area? The last couple years, it has been on Saturday night b/c Halloween fell on Sat or Sun. With Halloween falling on Monday this year & being a school night, do they still do Trick or Treat on Halloween, or do they do it the Saturday before Halloween? Before moving to TN the area we lived in did not do Trick or Treating on Halloween unless it fell on a Friday or Saturday night... other than those 2 days, it was done on the Saturday prior to Halloween. Any info would be greatly appreciated! However, if all u have is some smart a$$ reply about it being a Devil's holiday & that I will go to hell for letting my kids Trick or Treat... Don't waste ur time or mine... Just keep it to urself! Thanks!

Most of the time if Halloween falls on a weekday, they will do the trick or treat during the weekend before.

Thanks so much... We're trying to plan around it for the circus... Too much excitement in one day just leads to really cranky kids!

I am hoping that maybe the school will send home something with an idea of when it is... SOON... Because I have 2 kids nagging me for the answer!

As a kid, I always enjoyed Halloween on the night it's suppose to be on, irrespective of the day of week.
But I can understand the safety factor nowadays.
I know many churches tend to have a "Trick Or Trunk" style Halloween for kids. Might want to check into that too "Just Some Girl". Either way, have a safe, but enjoyable, Halloween with the little ones. That's what it's all about.

Thanks! We did happen upon one last year... I think it was referred to as a Trunk or Treat & my kids loved it! Especially my daughter who is actually very shy & reluctant to knock on doors & actually say "Trick or Treat"... She was much more comfortable in this setting!

Thanks again! You are so right... It is all about having fun with the kids! Taking a night to have fun, dress up as anything u want, & CANDY!:)

We just start Trick or Treating on October 27, everyday, until someone gives us candy. Ha.

In Washington County, trick or treat is on October 31 unless that day falls on a Sunday. If so, then trick or treat is on The Saturday before.

Bee Keeper, if you had read my original post, you would see that I am originally not from this area & where I lived before we only did trick or treat on the 31st IF it were on Saturday, I was only trying to find out about what this area does! No need to be a judgemental asshole about it!

Welcome to the Bible Belt where Halloween & trick or treating are frowned upon by many hardcore bible-thumpers because it pays homage to demons & spirits & goblins.

"hardcore bible-thumpers"?.....that 's a little much, don't you think? I am a Christian and read the bible and YES! I STILL TAKE MY KIDS TRICK OR TREATING! I wish you morans would stop making "the bible belt" seem like a bunch of hypocritical ,crazy psycos! Just because we believe in God DOES NOT MAKE US "bible thumpers"! As you say! That's hilarious. You all have no clue. Who is giving out most of the candy in the bible belt? You got it! Churches!

Apparently, Beekeeper has a bee in his bonnet.

Or...
Beekeeper is just trying to annoy us with buzz-words.

Or...
Beekeeper's bark is worse than his sting.

Or...
What's wrong, Honey?

Or...
So, what's Plan Bee?

Or...
Beekeeper can bee such a son-of-a-bee.

Said this before, just saying it again.
Let's keep Halloween on the day it's suppose to be - Oct 31st.
For crying out loud, if Christmas fell on a Sunday, would communities be screaming to hold it on a Saturday for convenience purposes?
This recent yearning to change Halloween Trick or Treating on days other than the actual oct 31st halloween day is becoming to a point of being rediculous! School nights or not, Haloween is halloween on Oct 31st.
Sheesh!
