"Reverse Racism" is a myth. I learned that in college which is where some of the people on this site need to go to learn about racism and other issues.
Blacks have no institutional power over whites. "When a group of people has little or no power over you institutionally, they don't get to define the terms of your existence, they can't limit your opportunities, and you needn't worry much about the use of a slur to describe you and yours, since, in all likelihood, the slur is as far as it's going to go. What are they going to do next: deny you a bank loan? Yeah, right." Go to About.com (reverse racism)
So you learned it in college? Just for your info, college is an institutional conglomeration of brainwashing with bullshit studies and courses on baloney like racial relations. No such thing as reverse racism? Are you living under a rock with a bunch of bleeding hearts? I do sorta agree, blacks do not have institutional power over whites, but the news media does and they milk racial relations like a cow. Only the gullible fall for it. Racial relations are on the decline simply because both sides are fed up with being used as fodder for entertainment.

I do agree with you on most of what you said but I dont like the month of feb. because its black history month and I dont like this crap on tv, radio and in news papers celebrating it. I as a consumer of tv ,radio and papers, and as a citizen of this nation dont appreciate this black history month crap thrust up my a$$ or down my throat. No one celebrates me or mine in any way so I see no reason to applaud or celebrate someone just because of the color of their skin, be them white or black. We are all just trying to live on this big blue marble called earth and no one race deserves more reconigition for living here than any other. And I never did a damn thing to the blacks to be treated as a second rate citizen in my own country, taking a back seat to anyone because Im white. Blacks need not be pizzed at me or mine because they are the color of a burnt turd. I didnt make them that way. But deep down, if blacks would tell you the truth, they hate all white people for being white, and themselfs for not being white.
You may want to educate yourself and maybe one day you won't be racist trash. Why would it bother you for another segment of society to celebrate their history unless you have some deep-seeded resentments in your own life? How are you being treated as a second rate citizen in one of the whitest and most racist areas of the country? By the way, I'm not black...I'm just educated. The truth of what you should be promoting was buried in your response...we are all just trying to live on this big blue marble called earth, so what better reason to try to live in harmony and peace and all get along.

The same people who put down black history month are the same people who proudly display the rebel flag. Claim to celebrate their "southern heritage". What hypocrites.

The Black people did this to themselves.. I was around at the beginning of the so-called civil rights movement..this is where it all started going terribly wrong. If the black people had not been so damn stupid and decided to sit on their sofas with their hands outstretched for a gimme, they could have ALL made something of themselves and surpassed the whites. Even worse, they decided that crime paid and they could sit around and blame white people for all their ills. Well, they've had nearly 40 years of people bending over backwards to make sure they went to college.. got food.. got shelter, etc. And for what? Some were smart enough to take advantage of our government's largesse, but en mass.. a terrible failure. HOw friggin much are you supposed to do for an ethnic group? And, yes, there are enough scuzzy sorry whites that are on the same par with the blacks.. only difference is that they are just stupid and don't realize how worthless or stupid they are- and, they dont blame anyone for their worthlessness.

Hey, I'm not afraid of the label racist trash, because I am SURE it has a better connotation to it than what you probably are-. So what if I don't like blacks and prefer to stay away from them? I don't like being around Mexicans or the druggy thieving pillheads either...I don't think all black people are bad, but I prefer not to be around any of them. There are enough white folks that I can be friends with. Like I said, I've been around a while and seen a lot. I've lived places where the blacks were like roaming animals at night- a woman couldn't even got to the mall or anywhere after dark without being attacked by black thugs. SO yes, I do have a history of my feelings. And, if you dont' like it, you can kiss my white azz.

The real definition of something a "mental midget" would say right here. What has got all you people in a tizzy over black history month? I'm white, and it affects me little to none. That goes for all white people. Get over it and find something worthwhile to whine about, pussies.

Nicely said deal, its a damn shame that everyone worries about such petty BS and fails to look at true issues at hands. Most Americans not even including race in this manner, has no regards for the millions we harm everyday outside our country at all. They have the outlook of being better than others and its really sickening.

And if you truly want to get to worrying about black history month, which is feb the shortest month even on leap year(s). Then why cant you just be + and say hey white people have the other 11 months out of the year. There is a reason for everything yet people only want to highlight things that "they" CONSIDER wrong, instead of maybe thinking "hey I might be wrong myself?"

Hoss, you're missing the point. If there was a White History Month or a European-American History Month there would be a minority public outcry the likes of which this country has never seen. There are no exclusively European racial heritage celebrations.
Celebrating somebody because of their race, not their cultural background, is blatant racism. And don't start on celebrations such as St. Patricks Day, which celebrates being Irish, not "white."
The aforementioned logic, and it is logical, applies to awards ceremonies such as the Essence Awards, BET cable television in general, as well as some of the most stringent affirmative action laws. All are racist and the ever-growing list goes on and on.
If we should be celebrating anybody's racial heritage, it is the Native Americans, but our forefathers viciously saw fit to either kill them off or put them in concentration camps, better known as reservations ... as opposed to giving them 40 acres and a mule.
Summary? It's en vogue to be minority in 21st century America; you get what you want, if you want to work for it. If you don't want to work for it, then we'll give it to you anyway because of your color. We just won't say that outright, because that would be ... what ... racist.
And by the way, it hasn't one damn thing to do with "upper East Tennessee at its finest." Saying that makes you culturally biased, because your statement is not based in fact. Part of the real facts include the historical realism that your backwoods "upper East Tennessee" was anti-slavery and supported the Union during the Civil War. So much so, in fact, President Lincoln acknowledged "upper East Tennessee" with praise for fighting against the grain. Get your facts straight.

I love this part of it...Abe lincoln " the great emancipator" was a racist. he helped pass legislation in Illinois before he became President that made it illegal for blacks to be in the state of Illinois.

Yes that is true about Lincoln without a doubt. The main reason he even abolished slavery was just to piss off the south and hurt them from a "labor" viewpoint. Not many has had great intentions for our country at all. Most citizens who believe they are speaking for the country or their outlooks, usually does so in a unknowing manner. If you have religion or political ties then your viewpoint is already tainted, regardless of what you think.

True, but that was then and this is now. now Tn has become backwoods and racist and agreessive. When Ron Ramsey is your state rep, Stupid has begun to begin I prosper again. It takes and absolute BIGOT to be concerened about Black History Month. Theirs is a shining example of God Almighty overcoming impossible odds to free a people and many people lost their lives helping God. I can't stand the bigots. They are like the Nazis of old, if we don't combat them now, they will groa and fester. They much be crushed....again

"Political correctness is a polite form of Tyranny"
Charlton Heston

There is no reason that I can think of why we should have to go through a full month of any type politically correct culture awareness torture!

The worst thing that has happened to this country is the hyphenated American!

Like Italian-American, African-American, Irish-American or any other combination you wish to put together!

If the word American doesn't come out your mouth first, then I think it is time to think about moving to country that came out of your mouth first!

Because it is clear to me that you are not happy here and I think it is time for you to go!

I am Proud to called an American without a hyphen and I don't give two sh*ts what other people or countries think of me or this Great Nation that I happen to have the Great pleasure to live in!

If you take the time to visit any Veterans Cemetery, the one thing you will fail to see is a hyphen anywhere on the head stone or foot marker!

Over 1.6 million AMERICAN MEN and WOMEN gave their lives for the United States of America, not the Africa-America, Italy-American, Ireland-America!

They gave their lives for the United States of America!

Those men and women gave their lives so I could have the ability to write this post and for you the right to disagree with this post!

Before you try to change this country and the people in it, why don't you try changing your address to a place like France or Greece or even Russia!

You might find the latter a lot easier for you to do!

This is the United States of America and like the old saying goes; Love it or leave it!

Your ways of looking at things is EXACTLY what is truly wrong with this country. It is either your "way" or no way. You can quote certain "citizens" but that does not make you anymore valid than ANY other.

It is basic torture for you to know that there is a black history month or any other ethnicity based "holiday'.

Where does your concern(s) even begin to start or end? All your portraying is an absent minded viewpoint of an illogical person. Not to mention quite emotionless. You bring up the millions we have lost, from capital gain of a very few. You show no concern for the other(s) who have lost their lives from our corrupt government. Yet you have the belief that just cause we are FROM this country that we are superior to everyone else. I mean if anything the Native Americans should be the ones making up "our" holidays, since we robbed them of their land and took their freedoms. But im guessing that means little to nothing to you?

What angers me is the millions you say who died for "our" country, who died cause of certain evil greedy men, not for the sake of freedom. We have not been in ONE war in our history that has not been for capital gain and profits. It is not our duty to go tell other countries how to LIVE their lives and dictate what liberties they may have and not have.

It is not as simple as love it or leave it, as you simply put. I love a true "patriot" who is willing to stand for what is right. Not a person following suite like a robot who is pre programmed in thinking their opinion is the only truth. Show compassion not hate, but if your going to display hateful thought(s), then by all means do so at the right people. Which would be your very own "leaders" and super rich billionaires who truly run our country.

You can tell every view point is coming from an anger based standpoint instead of a keen open minded person. To be one sided on every single outlook of life, is truly the worse citizen of the "United Corporation(States)".

"If you are young and not a liberal, you have no heart!
If you are old and not a conservative, you have no brain!"
Winston Churchill

Sir Unknown,

You have gotten in all the left leaning talking points and you used the left's main weapon!

You belittle and attack the person when you can't take on the facts they present to you!

I spent 21 years in the military and have traveled around the world meeting a lot very interesting people and enjoyed ever minute of it!

Most of the country’s where I had to the privilege to station had substandard medical care and all most all the time we were able to help them!

I have even given aid to people that I have shot in defense of the soldiers under my care, so don't think for one second that I don't have compassion for people of races or beliefs.

As for your disdain of corporate America, that is purely socialistic way of thinking!

Which by reading your post you have spent a lot of money on your education; unfortunately you had too many teachers or Profs that did not teach you that there are always two sides to a thought just as a coin has two sides!

In my post I never mentioned black history month and you are the one to bring up black history month, so who seems to be the one that is racially motivated?

You need to reread my post; you have missed the entire point of my post because of the narrow way you look at this country!

I don't have a heartburn with anyone that is not out to destroy this country.

I grew up as army dependent, going to schools and living next or even in the same stairwells with other dependents of ethnic and religious beliefs that even includes having Frank and Blair Underwood live with my family when we were station in Stuttgart Germany in 1967 when their parents when they went on leave or TDY out of country!

As Bill Murray said in the movie Stripes; “we are mutts of the world, we are the Heinz 57 sauce".

We have people coming here from so many different parts of this planet to live in Great country of ours.

Why do they are move here to live, if they hate us so much?

They moved here because their country was more screwed up then this country you say is so full of hate and to become the corporate giants that you hate so much!

If you think it is so bad down south, go to South Boston, Little Italy in Manhattan, sh*t go to Obama's wonderful town of Chicago!

I know there is racism all over the world, but until we get rid of the hyphen or thinking that any one group of people are more deserving than another group of people we will continue fall apart as a country!

You have many rights in this Great Nation in which we live, but you don’t have the right to make other people change their beliefs just because you don’t like their beliefs!

If you don’t like the people who live near you, you always have the right to move to an area where the people think and believe as you do!

I would like to suggest somewhere like San Francisco, LA or maybe even Canada!

One thing I would like to make you aware of and that is; the grass is not always greener on the other side of the fence!

There are days when you feel you can't say or do anything right, but happily this isn't one of them. In fact, it's a wonderful day in which everything goes well and it's remarkably easy to get on well with whoever happens to be around. Not that you want to spend your time with just any old person. You'd much rather get together with some close friends or that special someone in your life.
