My Husband and I came to Hotsprings for our 7th wedding annivarsary, we got to our hotel at the velda rose and the air conditioner wouldn't plug in so they moved us to another room, the room was very nice it was the pres. suite that was great and i loved our stay. No complaint there. then we got up that moring and walked the spa row it was sooo beautiful and nice. we looked for a place to eat and found something called the big boss burger( can't remmber the name of the resturant). its besided bubba lous up some stairs, in the back. It took almost 2hrs to get food and the people that were there before us hadn't got there food yet. I don't reconmend this place at all. Now Bubba lous was great they served us fast and quality food. We ate lunch around 3pm sat. I also reconmend the maxwell blade show it very good and the star traxs across the street is great for people that like to sing kareoke. we had looked up on line the events for hotsprings and thought it would be fun to watch the fireworks Saturday night, this is the disapointment, there were NO i mean NO fireworks anywhere for the fourth of july Day we lined up where they shoot them off and was told sorry not tonight sunday. we were not the only people lined up on the road. we left that road go carts, then back to the hotel and hung out with our friend. it sucks that this town with high visitor rates didn't do anything for the 4th i was hoping that we would see big fireworks. Eldorado Arkansas puts on a big show after dark and they have 25,000 citizens. maybe this town needs to talk to El dorado and get something going for the 4th. well other than that our vacation was great loved it. we'll be back with kids in two weeks to see maxwell's show.

Im sorry you had a unpleasent visit. I use t be able to recommend a bar and grill called capones which is right up from the arlington on the right side of central but if your looking for food there is no reason to go there anymore now that the so called boss got rid of the ONLY good reliable employee they had. He was the cook and the ONLY cook worth eating the food from. so walk on by from now on cuz that place cant even pass their health inspection since noone is there to make sure it does.

There are a lot of complaints about El Dorado's fireworks this year. It didn't last very long and wasn't very impressive. I think the economy caught up to the city. But, they had several other events throughout the day.

Well Hot Springs is a good city and is mostly on time for everything but when it comes for big events I guess they dont do a very good job and I bet it was packed. They need some parking and its very bad on the water with all the boats crowding together. |

I wish you could have come to the village, we had a great fireworks night!

I Love my State, the beauty, the close proximity to rivers and lakes - BUT
HotSprings Downtown Shopping is NOT a good experience! Firstly, people DO vacation on weekdays! Keep your businesses OPEN and you might make money! DAMN - I brought someone from Calif, who loved the atmosphere; however,... MANY businesses DO NOT, I Repeat, DONOT take credit or debit cards! What's up with that? I own a business, I know it cost to process them, but we are in a time where people do not travel with a lot of cash! Many items in your stores are too costly and if someone is paying a meal for a table of 4 or more...It just blows me away! A comment from an elderly gent who opened one such business,'we've been doing this for 40 years' OH, No signs on front window or doors to warn you before you place such orders either! Only at the check out register AFTER you have already ATE. ' There's an atm at the hotel across the street' A common remark.' you need to leave your id, or a child' was actually told of me as I angrily left to cross into a crosswalk in the rain, luckily I keep an umbrella, because even though there are signs for traffic to stop for pedistrians, you think any did? This was brkfst traffic, locals probably going to work. A real WARM Thankyou for patronizing their town - NOT! Oh by the way, the beauty of the hotels was greatly dimmed by the poor a/c system! There too many nice unique shops that were CLOSED on a Mon and Tue. Everything downtown closes at 6 pm even though in summer time people are strolling and willing to still spend money til dark at least. Even the weather wasn't a deterant, but the lackluster hospitality was not what this Arky and her company was expecting! Good thing we can appreciate the true beauty of Arkansas, the rock, gorge, waterfalls, green fauna... Otherwise it isn't worth the trip. PS your way of doing business sure saved me money though! |

Well, you definately didn't read the paper, we saw one saturday night in hot springs village, so there, u sound ungrateful for our beautiful town, maybe you should stay home! |

You sure show a real hostile attitude instead of being hospitable.

We use to go to the fireworks in El Dorado Memorial Stadium, before they moved it to the fair grounds. There were events all day. Car show, pet show, 5K run, 30K bike race, kids run and we loved it. Now its back in the stadium there are alot more than things to do than just watch fireworks. When El Dorado puts on a show they do it first-class. My kids love to go downtown its like the way downtown shopping use to be. If you have not visited El Dorado you need to make the time to see what they have accomplished on Main Street. |

would have got paper but i couldn't find one and no one around the hotel or stores new any thing, o well we loved the MAXWELL BLADE SHOW, and i made great friends at STAR TRAXS, so i'm not downing the town like most people i love hotsprings just wanted to see fireworks

It is a shame that the hotels didn't post that fireworks were going to be witheld but I can say that the fireworks in Hot Springs are off the chain. Not only are they great but they put on a show in about 5 different areas meaning 5 different firework displays. The best view like one said is on the lakes, we do have a couple to choose from, however I suggest leaving early meaning missing the finally which would suck but be safe due to all the drunks on the lake or the ones who just cant see the little light on boats at night. Or you could just wait it out and allow the other boats to take off ahead of you. As for the shopping, I have no clue what stores you were going to but if you haven't got the memo, the economy sucks these days so taking into consideration payroll for the employee working is most likely way more than the cheap purchase you were planning on making. That's everywhere except larger franchise stores. Hot Springs is known for our bath house row and the natural hot springs obviously and we show better hospitality more than other southern states for sure. No offense to the more elderly that only care to visit downtown, but those who want to know what we locals look forward to every year is our beautiful lakes. We have 2: Lake Hamilton (the party lake) and Lake Oauchita (the 3rd cleanest lake in the U.S meaning no residents to live on this lake but it is very large and you can indeed camp on an island). Both are the highlight of the summer. Hope all that do not live here and plan on coming back will enjoy their 2nd visit more and the haters that dont think its worth coming back to means less traffic for us locals have to deal with. Without the "Spa City" you would have no boyhood home for former president Bill Clinton!

I always tell anyone who comes to visit - never stay downtown in one of the "old" hotels. They all suck and are overpriced. Downtown Hot Springs is one of the biggest crime-ridden areas.
Stay in a hotel closer to the track or the mall next time and then "visit" downtown just to say you've been there. |
