If your reading this, you probably already read my previous post which voiced my thoughts on prevelant issues. What I am hoping to attain by writing this is getting some community input. I want to know what WE can do to start things in motion. I know for a fact no one likes to see our city/town whatever you want to call it fall even further into despair. Let's save it while we still can, use this new blood to revitilize our community. I'm looking for anyone who has ideas on what needs to be addressed, and ideas on how to fix the problems we have in this town. I think one of our biggest weaknessess is that people don't know what is going on. So let's let them know! Open forum, give your problem, gripe, issue etc.. Maybe we can fix some of them, maybe we can't but let's get it all out in the open.

The best thing you can do is move far away. I left Carbondale 38 years ago and never looked back.

This is why nothing happens in carbondale. no one cares this post has been up for almost two weeks and not one person has anything to say. I find that hard to believe.

wally's right no one gives a shit...we should though...the dale wasn't the worst place I could have grown up...i see enough empty lots where there were buildings so if the space isnt wasted, could mean a lot of jobs, business opportunities, maybe even something to do!!!

Burn it down and rebuild it somewhere else, thats how you can fix Carbondale |

Hey! relax. a lot of good people are working hard and together to bring this community back. A number of revitilization projects have recently been approved and initiated. About 25 mill in projects will be ongoing by fall. If you want to help this community, volunteer in an area that you are passionate about. |

I own a home on in an area that has been targeted by the powers that be to make sure everything looks good and up to snuff even though the rest of the streets look like 100 miles of busted ass. I got a warning from the City Home Beautiful Inspector General dated Tuesday, July 8th, that warned me about the bags of garbage on the side of my home, my overgrown vegetation, and what a nuisance I was.
#1 - The garbage was staged for placement onto the sidewalk where our sanitation workers would gladly hae taken it away the next morning. #2 - My garden maintenance man called in for the week and the grass on the front lawn was higher than my neighbor's shared section of lawn. Yikes! #3 - I'm in the house 2-3 weekends a month since i am doing renovations (spending money) on the interior. A paint job and new roof are pending. This kind of nonsense galls me when there are so many other issues to adress. The city council needs to pull their collective heads out of the darker regions and stop harassing people who are spending money trying to fix this once dying town up. This isn't Honesdale. Not by a longshot. But at this point I should have listened to my wife and bought a home there instead. |

Things can be done and people just need to keep a positive attitude and work on getting people that are bringing the town down and giving it a bad name out of here. Those of you in town know the bad areas and the people that are the cause. Nothing burns me more than seeing people sitting home all day because they don't have a job and DONT want a job, its one thing to use the system if you are attempting to look for a job; even its a fast food restaurant or whatever but to not even attempt and have the state pay for your section 8 while you sit on the porch all day doing NOTHING productive makes the down look like trash. The city will work with you if you work with it, if you are not going to be proactive than it will keep plummeting down the tubes with more section 8. Just my two cents as a homeowner trying to make the town a better place to live....

Spent 3 years living there. Every year the town got worse and worse with the scumbags. I swear there are so many people who just don't give a crap at all. They hang out on the porch and don't work. The town has a high % of the population who live on section 8. Sorry, but most folks on section 8 are scum. The other problem is the remaining folks in town are retired or low income so the town can't win. Lastly, is the hardheaded Mayor who thinks he knows best.
who can't hit water if he fell out of boat in the middle of the ocean. |

I agree with you section 8 is the number one thing that brings the town down and gives it the name "garbagedale". I hope the mayor and other people notice this and I'm sure they do because it's obvious. I want things to change and am doing my part in helping improve the city image.

Maybe there's alot of section8 because Carbondale doesn't have any jobs & when the section 8 people do get a job you people can't wait to get all your heads together & get them fired. So stop your crying. If all the section8 got a job you wouldn't have one.

Great answer Sammy. What a dumb ass you are
|

You must work in Carbondale.

JJC, I have been proactive in the area.. As much as I can atleast, I spent 9 hours cleaning up the park on garfield ave one Saturday afternoon.(I have before and after pictures) The problem is, the very next day I went back to find the park filled with litter and contraband/illegal substances. Why is it that no one in power cares here?
|

And for the record. I'm not sure what is wrong with the posting here. but I'm from Carbondale, not Windsor Ny

What C,dle needs is a movie cinama & another store like Ames

I agree that guy, noone in power does care and it seems all they do care about are things that put them in the spotlight for things that could help them move on to another higher position. Maybe it's just me but that's what I get out of it???

ok

lets all be honest with each other
what hope exists for anyone who decides to live and build a family in the Carbondale area? Lets even go so far as to say the entire NEPA area. be honest with yourself and ask yourself why you still allow yourself to be a victim of where you live when the power to leave is within your grasp. you and only you have that power |
||||
|
Evan- Seems you have some issues you need to work out, you are one person with the opinion of obviously disliking nepa for whatever reasons. I personally think it's a beautiful area, all 4 seasons, good jobs within reach, someone with a degree and drive can easily obtain salary of 75k which is decent for the area...
