You would thing the new tax would pay for new police cars and water inprovements, benifits for employees instead of new swimming pools and walks and recreational stuff...3 percent eat in tax at hardees i think i'll stop somewhere else on the way to work in the morning...

Go to Wise County and you will pay 4% tax on top of county and state tax. Everywhere is doing these kinds of taxes.

I have worked in the city of Jenkins for over 12 years. I feel as if I am being punished for working and living in Jenkins. I think that they should be able to tax everyone. There are more families and people on welfare then those who work. Most of those on welfare live better than I do and I work. Also, Mr. Mayor, you talked as if the city did not need the school. Keep this in mind...who do you think has the most employees? You got it.....Jenkins School System. You better watch your P's and Q's. One more thing, why do we need Todd's input, and why the hell is he being paid as much as the mayor? Cant the Mayor do is job with assistance. I thought that was what the council was for. Oh ya dont for get the car you and your wife are driving. The previous mayors used their own car, cant you. You must change your ways Mayor or Jenkins will be nothing. You will not get new businesses in here because of the taxes. You need to think about the people who do work and pay taxes more than those who don't. Hell maybe I will move into low income apt. become a drug dealer and whore. Get with Mayor or get the hell out.

Just get over it. Huh, this is exactly what is wrong with America today. Just sit back and take every tax or new law that any level of government wants to throw upon us. The ending results of this attitude will most cetainly one day result in more taxes and laws than we can handle. If it is not already reached this point. If you undestand our nation's history, than you would realize that silly little taxes like this is what prompted our colonist to rebel against England. Now we simply sit back and say "Oh well nothing I can do". One day this attitude will result in our children having nothing as the differnt levels of government will be taking it all. You have to have the common sense to realize that we can only pay so much to the government before there is nothing left for us. Examine all the taxes each working person already pays. The figure is absurd. My question is what is the city of Jenkins actually going to provide me for this money. The answr is nothing!!! A third rate police force and a volunteer fire department, and water that we have to pay for. This tax is joke and the revenue will be wasted. The city will not improve from this tax. The only real result is that we will now have less to provide for our families with. But yeah, we should just "GET OVER IT."

I totally agree except I know what will be bought with the money. What ever G.C. And Ernestine Kincer want. Maybe a new pool across from their house or at their house. Or a bigger desk for his office. Or maybe the new car he has been driving for 6 months is getting to old and they need a new one for him to drive his wife and dog around in. Or maybe he needs to give the city workers another raise.

Daily Horoscope for May 22

Sagittarius

It's important to be discriminating about what you say and believe today. That's because communications are rather strange, with people saying or doing odd things and plenty of scope for crossed wires. Be very careful if you're attending to important details because for some reason your brain may switch off at the vital moment, leaving you prone to making mistakes or losing track of what you're doing. Try to double-check anything important tomorrow when your brain is back in gear.
