Yes very true. But we all know that will never happen. Because the older people can vote, and they'll turn down the rule.

Absolutely! There needs to be some sort of examination for mental and physical capabilities once you reach a certain age. Yes these people are older and have done nothing wrong but they can easily be a danger to themselves and others. When you age your reactions and abilities diminish, its a fact.

Hey listen ....do you think you are perfect? I think we should be praying for this family not being so critical. People of all ages have had this happen to them. I know of lots of people that are older and are great drivers.

i highly doubt "how many times" and "Big Balls Golf" are perfect drivers! Mike has a point but you can't prove what an elderly person does a teenager or adult wouldn't do..falling asleep behind the wheel is something that happens with all ages. no one is perfect and this accident in unfortunate.

Do you people have ANY idea at all on how old they are? I didn't think so.
To the news people, 60 is probably considered elderly.
I prefer to have a lot of those "elderly" people on the road as opposed to the "young" drunks.
Have any names been released yet?

I think people need to get some facts, On Accidents, And how many involve the elderly, compared to others. Maybe when some of the people on here get in a accident, They should be tested for their driving.

Sure, let's make it a law. Hit age 55 and give up your license. This is considered "elderly" in many gov't programs. I'm sure you'd be gracious and law-abiding when your time comes...

And while we're at it, let's toughen up those drunk driving laws that people ignore (eg continuing to drive with a suspended license). On-the-scene resolution. I'm way more concerned about getting killed by one of those than by the elderly.

You know that's right. Why is it that every time someone over 60 is involved in an accident, all the morons on Topix have to call for tougher testing but every time some 18 year old kid kills someone with their car while speeding or driving drunk, we don't hear a peep?

Well heck, let's just take the vote away from them too! On second thought they're pretty useless, we'll just do the Soylent Green lullaby on em and be done with it.(that was tongue in cheek for those of you South of 28th)

Just a note. This was not the Chicago Drive exit by Jenison. It was the between the Chicago Drive exit east of 28th Street and Market Avenue. That would be Grand Rapids or Wyoming. This really tied up traffic on East bound I-196 this morning.

With all due respect.
There have been MANY accidents reported lately because of at-fault elderly drivers. This is nothing new. The problem will, however, get worse, if something is not done to limit those who should not be behind the wheel of a car.

senior citizens, although old and dangerous behind the wheel, can still serve a purpose.

With all due respect, there have been many accidents with fatalaties lately due to young, inexperienced drivers texting while driving or talking on their cell phone or driving while impaired. I think we need to raise the legal driving age.
