A prominent Columbia black prof smacked a female colleague in the face during a “white privilege” discussion.

A prominent Columbia architecture professor punched a female university employee in the face at a Harlem bar during a heated argument about race relations, cops said yesterday.

Police busted Lionel McIntyre, 59, for assault yesterday after his bruised victim, Camille Davis, filed charges.

McIntyre and Davis, who works as a production manager in the school’s theater department, are both regulars at Toast, a popular university bar on Broadway and 125th Street, sources said.

The professor, who is black, had been engaged in a fiery discussion about “white privilege” with Davis, who is white, and another male regular, who is also white, Friday night at 10:30 when fists started flying, patrons said. "

The first person to post on that article is correct - Obama recently signed into law a hate crime bill, so let's see how that will work with this situation....

Those types of laws only apply when the victim is a minority.

Ummm isn't this the case? A black man slugs a white woman?

They would most likely have to determine whether he slugged her because she's whitw or whether he slugged her because she's female. Laws like this are usually structured in such a way that the victim has to be on a list contained in the law to be the victim of a hate crime.

Hate crime laws a discriminatory.

No real man hits a woman. This coward has bigger issues to address than skin color.

I don't know much about the new hate crime laws, but I know in the past the courts have ruled that the victim has to be part of a "Protected class" to be considered racially motivated.
I am sure the guy could get away with a $50 fine and sharpton is going to say it’s too much and it would have been less if the guy was white.

When it comes to hate crime laws I don't believe women are even considered a minority. Especially white women. But I could be wrong.

I agree with Dingo, he has far bigger issues. Where I come from the only issue would have been the 30 guys that piled on to the guy who hit the woman to begin with. How ridiculous.

Why the surprise? Just because he's a professor you believe that he's housebroken? Few of them make it to that level of civility. He acted exactly as expected (like an animal). Interesting how the libs see no problem with this behavior.

Yup, but then if any of the guys who jumped him were white, they would all be charged with a hate crime because you know the jerk would cry about how they all jumped him just because he's black and not because he just slugged a woman.

I'm sure Al Sharpton will be able to tell us how the WHITE person provoked the innocent Black professor and deserved what happened.

He might have slugged her because she was blonde and dumb.

He will probably press charges that she assaulted him, by putting her face in the way of his hand, thereby causing him to sustain the injuries to his knuckles.
