Bravo to Dr. Durkin. This is an excellent article. I believe Dr. Durkin is right about these types of perverts. They think what they are doing is totally normal and this means these people cannot be rehabilitated. That makes them extremely dangerous to our children and to our society as a whole. Child molestation is not just something a child molester does it is who they are to their core being. I hope that the judges in this country make every effort to make the punishments severe for these pedophiles. Keep them off of the streets and away from our children.

That's like trying to rehab the rest of us into thinking Megan Fox isn't hot. Prison isn't going to change the fact that I think Megan Fox is hot. It's no different with these offenders. They are attracted to kids. No amount of prison can cure that.

I think if we started cutting off extremities and other parts, it would quickly end. the children affected by predators never truly get over what happened to them. We can only hope that they can get through it. I do not know what makes people think that this is okay...IT IS NOT!!!!... children should be left to be children, adults need to quit preying on them. Stop the war against our children

Cutting off extremities isn't going to make them not like kids. It's a mental thing. There is no place in society for these people.

Net Guru,You and I have been over this before. If you snip em'(the boys)they won't even have a sexual thought anymore, much less be able to act on it.They may be abusive in some other way,but will not be able to use their potentially "deadly"(AIDS)weapon .

Your memory is obviously better than mine, but they can still abuse kids without their jimmy. What's next, cut their hands off and sew their mouth shut? I see your point, but where does it end? Right now, locking them up is the best we can do.

I agree Mike, but these bleeding hearts call that or castration-cruel and unusual! Well what was what they did to their victims? And isn't the death penalty not considered cruel and unusual for those that kill? How about accepting that there are other circumstances in which the death penalty should/could be applied? They cannot(and most do not want to be)cured of their affliction. So it's got to be one of three possibilities(to protect women and children):life in prison, death penalty or castration. So it's not cruel and unusual,we'll let them choose one!

Plus, if they did it more often, it wouldn't be considered unusual anymore.

Well, as long as we continue to let these bleeding heart idiots influence the law you will continue to have these problems. This has become such a country of whiny little babies, nothing is handled to the degree it should be and people wonder why we have soo many problems

it might not "fix" them but life in prison would prevent reoccurrence.

Then you run into tax payers paying to keep this scum alive, prison over crowding, and numerous other problems. I know it sounds cold hearted but I think rape and any form of sexual crime against a child should be punishable by death. This would keep the prison population down, tax payer money freed up, no worry about a sex offender living near your home, your child's school, or any place where children gather. Right now enormous amounts of money and time are spent on electronic tracking, sex offender registering and re-registering, arrest warrants for parole violations, relocating of sex offenders and child gathering places to keep separation, the list goes on and on

Why do these predators remain on the streets when so many of us agree they should be punished, locked up, castrated or killed? Why aren't the judges, attorneys, prisons keeping them? What can we do to stop our children from being hurt? Lord help us...
