I sure hope it does! It would force people to straighten up or loose their food stamps. I think it should have been done a long time ago!!

You cannot receive food stamps if you have been convicted of a drug felony unless you go to some kind of drug classes.

I don't see a problem with drug testing people who collect aid. If it causes people to clean up then they might realize that they can find jobs and improve their lives. That alone is a win win. The biggest problem I hear is about the costs of drug testing. Its estimated to cost $30 a person. Times that by all the people who collect foodstamps or cash aid it would be expensive for the state of Ky. but might end up saving more by kicking off those who abuse. The other option could be to charge those who fail their test plus suspend them from the program. For those who truly are needy they shouldn't have any problems with drug testing. Btw they have drug test that detect the drugs in prescription medications and they have test that can show if the concentraion is more than the prescription is prescribed for and as poster stated above its like any failed drug test for employment. You fail you're out.

Heres a proposal ....randomly audit recipients of food stamps ...make them save receipts for their grocery purchases ....just like people prescribed certain medications have to submit to a random or even monthly "count " of their medication to ensure they are not selling their pills.....People would think TWICE before trading their food stamps for cash or drugs. I know for a fact this happens and .Yes I have reported it,,I am all for "helping out" ANY one in need until they get back on track but the ABUSE has to STOP ...Part of the reason for going to the e.b.t card was to stop abuse and transfer to people illegally ,,,however now people simply "loan" their card to others now.So I also propose a POSITIVE Identification before groceries can be purchased with a EBT card....I know you will have people whining that its an infringement on their rights etc. etc.,,,,A honest individual in need will have NO problem with these proposals

I feel like we are trying to put to much regulations in our system. I do not agree with the abuse. But to much regulations is taking from our freedoms. Many people on food stamps that has lost their jobs, are unable to work for physical disabilities and a host of other reasons. If our government puts more regulations on us we out taking a step backwards for what this country is suppose to stand for. We are leaning towards dictatorship. Our government is already trying to take my guns and trying to tell what I can say. But I still love you Dee.

Love ya too. I don't think if some one is out of work will turn to drugs. And if the unemployment runs out then of course they should be entitled to food stamps.I think drug testing would help get ried of the abuse.

A proposal to conduct random drug tests of young students in one New Jersey town is raising some eyebrows.
Students at Belvidere Elementary School could be adding drug testing to their list of lessons when they move into middle school.
The Board of Education will vote Wednesday on a plan to randomly test sixth, seventh and eighth graders to see if they are under the influence of drugs. School administrators said they were confident the proposal would pass.If they can test 6th graders why not test the parents of 6th graders if they are drawing food stamps.

I wish they would do something. People come into the store where I work and talk about what they're doing. And before anyone ask, yes we have to sell them what they want we don't have stipulations on the purchases they make. It makes me sick to see them abuse the system. Maybe the goverment should set up warehouses and instead of getting a card you should go and get your monthly rashion of beans, potatoes, and canned goods. Let 'em sell that for a pill.
