I'm amazed Walden's made it as long as they did. They weren't very good, just "foot traffic" from the mall for any bestseller. Sorry about the loss in jobs, but the bookstore should have gone long ago.

Some of you don't understand...in Licking County the ONLY bookstore in our entire county (Waldenbooks) will close. Barnes and Noble stores aren't everywhere.

For us it's a blow. Since we're smaller, we have the stores that always get closed. We're losing our Blockbuster and Waldenbooks. Stinks having to drive 45 minutes to get a book or a movie. Especially if you need a book for a book report at school.

Libraries? Ours are closing and you still have to drive to another town sometimes to get to one...

That's why we often HAVE to buy online out here. Oh - wait - we just got DSL about 3 years ago and do not have cable/high speed. People in Columbus have so much available to them and don't know what it's like to have to drive so far. Cable, DSL, etc. have only arrived to us recently and we're really not that far out from Cols.

Sorry to see the Waldenbooks go - our mall is getting emptier all of the time...

It's always been a belief of mine that bookstores, libraries and even books themselves would become historical sites either goverment funded or privately from donations of those hanging on to memories. The internet really took off in my generation and the use of books was considered by most in my graduating class as a weight loss tool in our back packs. Almost the majority of assignments could be researched online. It's kind of sad to me because I do have a lot of fond memories as a child exploring the library with endless adventures ahead. I hope they can be preserved for future generations.

Go back because the internet is over rated books are physical like money. Debit cards and the internet give up your freedom and mobility.Don't be a victim!

Jonathan - Keep those memories alive, boooks are like good freinds, you can always go back to them and they will not fail you ever.
Books can take you to places you may not have physically been but the adventure still lives.
Books have SUBSTANCE, these newsbits and info parts and pieces we receive nowadays are shallow and hollow. Books are an investment that draw dividends and interest unlike the hooey we get today that is throw away cheap.
Remember your adventures with books and pass that love of to your future generations.

Well said my friend.I could never part with my books. I love them and can not own enough.

unrepentant - back at ya my friend. I also have books stored away that I could never imagine parting with, it would be as if I were denying a good friend a home.

It's Bush's fault, after 8 years of destroying the economy no one has money to buy books.

Hey obama lies better.

Now we have too hide our books so that the history of this country isn't revised into Obama being the one and only founding father.

Daily Horoscope for January 7

Aries

There are good indications in the areas of career, a relationship with somebody you admire or with work in general (regardless whether it is housework or paid work). This is an excellent time to reorganise how you do your daily tasks and to send off your resume, or go for a job interview. You may receive helpful advice from a co-worker: if you are waiting for news from a parent or authority figure, you should have it soon.
