Problems Within the Sullivan Community

Please post whatever you feel is a problem within the Sullivan WI Community. Anything from after school activities to garbage pick up, please post whatever you find a problem.

Where is my mail? The Sullivan Post Office refuses to deliver mail to my address. I am required to have a P.O. Box. This wouldn't be such a problem if I could get to the post office before 4:30. How are single working people supposed to get their mail? The post office lobby only opened until 4:45 or 5:00. I went there today to try and get my mail, it was 4:38 p.m. and they were closed! If I have to have something delivered from out of state I am forced to use a friends address. If someone uses UPS, I can have it delivered right to my door. No wonder the U.S. Postal Service is suffering.

The post office has horrible hrs and they close when they want too! we all need to complain!

I aggree with you on that one, they are never open and they have like a 2 hour lunch. So I go to the Dousman Post office they are open everytime I go there.

I totally agree. The Sullivan Post Office does take a two hour lunch. The window is supposed to reopen at 2:00 p.m. However, this isn't always the case. They will reopen it when they feel like it. The window is not supposed to close until 4:30 p.m. I rushed home from work one afternoon and arrived at the post office at 4:25. The soonest I could possibly get there. The man who was there at the time closed the window in my face claiming it was 4:30. It was not. My business would have taken him approximately 3 minutes. Just one piece of mail I needed to send.

Also, myself and another tenant in the building I live in sent our rent on the same day from the Sullivan Post Office. Our landlord never recieved either. I had to pay a stop payment on check fee and deliver my rent in person. I suppose it could be a coincidence, or both of our letters got lost somewhere along the way, but it does make me leary.

I agree my boyfriend had a po box there and he could never get his mail because they were already closed and I know he got there before 4:30, and also it frustrates me to no end the fact that everytime I go there they are closed for there 2 hour lunch or they dont realize that you are ther cause they are talking on the phone or chatting with someone behind the counter. And you can ring the bell all you wont they still dont respond. So my advice to anyone using the sullivan post office they should try Hellenville, or Dousman post office they always open evertime I have gone to them, but its a shame that we cant use our post office in the town we live in.

I also have to have a P.O. Box. My biggest problem is the window closing at 4:30. With my work schedule it is impossible for me to receive packages. I can get to the Post Office before 5:00 but if someone has sent me a package I have to go to the window to get it and they close at 4:30. Even risking a speeding ticket wouldn't get me there in time.

I like Sullivan but I am seriously considering moving to an address where I can have mail delivered to my home.

Just a few more months and I will be old enough to move into the PADS the senior living apartments in Sullivan. They can get their mail delivered. My girlfriend lives right next to there and she can't get her mail delivered. LOL
One more stop is out of the question for the United States Post Office!

Please go to usps.com click on customer service and send an email to complain. Someone will get back to you, maybe not with an answer you would want to hear right now, but the more people that complain the more they will have to eventually listen. In the meantime please inform all family and friends to use UPS to ship packages. They have several convenient locations. Maybe not as close as their local Post Office, but they will even package up the things for them.
Also you do not have to have a P.O. Box in the town you live. Consider using a different Post Office. Maybe there is one close to where you work, for instance.
Just a few ideas I am throwing out there.
If the Post Office in your town doesn't serve you then they do not deserve you as a customer.

FYI the window is no longer open till 4:30. So get there by 4:15 at the latest if you want service. Matt must be on vacation or something. When the cats away the mice will play.

Denise, I believe you are referring to me as the other tenant in the building. Yes, it is true our landlord did not recieve either of our checks that month. However, that was over a year ago. I have not had any problems since. I will agree that I do not like their hours. It is also difficult for me to get to the window of the post office on my work days.
However, the blame does not lie within the Sullivan Post Office but with the United States Postal Service.
I suggest you try and communicate with Matthew or you can also file a complaint online. Please see Bob's post.
