Maybe you weren't driving then, but Mr. Green had a great auto parts store just west of Webb's hardware. I also remember a few cars for sale down by McKay's. No hospital with a hot doc, but there were plenty of pretty girls that I remember.

It's been that long ? Poor Patrick, we'll miss him. Jasper has been known for their pretty girls. I married one. There were so many I had to flip a coin to decide which one. They were sweeties too. Who is running the Webb Hardware now ? Roy's daughters were pretty ones too. When I left Jasper we were still using crank phones and our football helmets were made of leather. 1954. Our basketball shorts were as short and tight as the Dallas Cowgirls shorts.

I love the movie Roadhouse but I can guaran-damn-tee you there are no women in Jasper that look like the plaid dress wearing doctor or the top-heavy buxom blonde girlfriend of the bad guy Brad Wesley.

That is pretty sad news to hear. Maybe they were all exported. Come to think of it, just about all the guys in my class of 54 married Jasper girls and left town and some moved to other states. Talk to your Chamber of Commerce and see if they can get somethin goin.

As I recall there were some hot chicks in Jasper back in the 70s - maybe they did all fly the coop. I got mine in Carthage, she is a looker! Last time I went though Carthage I saw quite a few pretty senoritas too. ;-)

Speaking of Carthage, mine came from Carthage but out north. Went to school at Jasper. We have been hitched for 53 years. I used to skate at the Carthage Park Skating Rink almost every day for a long time. Played cupid for a couple of skaters. What is the population at Jasper now ?

I have thought for years that if I was going to open a bar/restaurant in that area, I would build a replica of "The Double Deuce" from the "Roadhouse movie" right on the edge of Jasper with easy access from US 71. Although Jasper itself is a tiny hole-in-the-wall, I believe you could make a killing from tourists there! "Roadhouse" has reached cult movie status, meaning it will continue to have fans for decades to come. Nearby Carthage already has a decent tourism business (Precious Moments) and Jasper is in the perfect location near the highway in route from Kansas City and a short distance from Carthage itself. I can't believe that a Roadhouse-style restaurant doesn't exist there already! Seems like a no-brainer to me! I bet you could even USE the name "Double Deuce" for free! I wonder how much it would cost to purchase permission to use material from the movie? I guarantee that a few billboards on US 71 would draw people in like flies to honey! Any entrepreneurs using this idea please send a respectable percentage of proceeds to Silent Bob7 ;-)

Silent Bob....Sounds like a great idea to me. However, what it will boil down to is your running a business. My parents ran Judy's Cafe on 71 for several years back in the late 40's. You could get some ideas from others who have done what you propose. I have some friends on Rt 66 in Erick, OK who might give you some helpful hints. They are entertainers. The Sandhills Curiosity Shop, Harley and Annabelle Russell, The Mediocre Music Makers, PO Box 121, Erick,OK 73645. As for using Double Deuce or items from the movie, I would get a lawyer to check it out. The Russells get a lot of motorcycle groups and tour busses. Most of the motorcycle groups are nice folks and some foreigners.

It was filmed in California and the Bar was built for the movie and then torn down after filming.

Steve wrote: I still didnt get the answer to the question,is there a real double deuce in jasper? Nope. No DD in Jasper Mo, today (Jasper has never had a bar that cool, either). The article from 2008 on this thread tells the story very well I think. Unfortunately Jasper now has a population hovering around 900 people and is not a hot business center anymore (as explained in the article) so there is little hope of one in the future either ;-(

I have seen that movie so many times that I can say most of the lines before the actors do lol. BTW they also mention "calling a friend in the FBI" in "Springfield". I always took that as a "Springfield, Missouri" reference too.
The fight between Dalton and Jimmy at the end is an epic one, but may go down in cinematic history as containing one of the cheesiest lines ever! "I used to F**k guys like you in prison"! OMG I still laugh my ass off when he says that!
