Why dont the Daily Mountain Eagle tell the truth in a story for once instead of letting John Mark cover it up to protect his "boys", and tell the county whats really going on. How he has a bunch of guys working for him that are no better than the dealers they arrest. Worse actually. Tell the everyone that all of them got arrested by the FBI, for doing what theyve been doing for years, reselling the stuff they take off the street. How about telling that story?!!

What is really going on? I know that they were routinely breaking the law and abusing their position by looking up information on the NCIC database and the state prescription drug database at the request of Walker County DHR employees. Information from the NCIC database, which is property of the FBI, is not to be accessed for any other reason besides criminal investigations. The state prescription drug database is only supposed to be accessed when there is a criminal investigation being conducted and the person whose info is accessed is reasonably suspected of the illegal diversion of controlled substances.

The local DHR office called Walker County NET several times a day to give them names to run through these databases. The thing is, most of the people whose info they were accessing were neither guilty nor even suspected of any type of drug crime - or any other kind of crime. The DHR is never involved in criminal investigations. Almost all of their employees aren't even qualified to practice social work, and they're certainly not qualified in law enforcement.

Bottom line, this setup had taken place for a very long, long time, and those guilty just assumed that no one would ever find out. The FBI is serious about prosecuting anyone who misuses their data & equipment, and there are very basic federal laws and constitutional protections that pertain to the privacy rights of all U.S. citizens. All the people whose private medical information was unjustly accessed had their civil rights violated. It is also a violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act. In violation of the ADA, the Walker County DHR just doesn't get it that people are NOT dangerous substance abusers simply because they are under a doctor's care and are treated with prescription medications.

I don't believe the claim that they decided not to apply for grant money. I believe they lost their federal funding because of all the federal laws they broke and all the civil rights they violated. The federal government will and does take away and withhold funding if the grantee violates federal law.

Walker County is the worst place on earth for HYPOCRITES. There is nothing worse than law enforcement officers who are paid to uphold the law, yet they are not only breaking the law, they don't bat an eye at methodically and routinely violating the most basic rights of the very people they are supposed to be protecting.

These yahoos thought they were untouchable, well they have been under a federal investigation for some time now. This is long overdue. People at the federal level have been very well aware for a long time that Walker County is a cesspool of corruption, at all levels of county and municipal government, including and especially the legal system and the law enforcement community.

They've had a tight knit little klatch for a long time that they arrogantly assumed was impenetrable. Is it not funny how everyone acts like there is not a world that exists outside Walker County? They don't give a flying flap about constitutional rights, following rules, conducting themselves in an ethical manner or doing anything properly according to federal law. One representative on the federal level compared Walker County to the Wild West in the late 1800s. That's about right.

They don't like it when outsiders come in. That's because they have had so much to hide. Truth be known, their jobs would have been a whole lot easier if they had just followed the law and done things the way they are supposed to be done. They have such a God complex, they think they are above the law. Anybody working in law enforcement or in the legal profession at any level or capacity should not only know the law, but they should respect all laws, including and especially the United States Constitution and the Bill of Rights.

How can people enforce laws when they are not even willing to abide by our laws themselves? All those jackasses should get what they deserve. For a really long time, people have been sick and tired of being humiliated, of having their due process rights violated, of suffering the embarrassment of having their privacy violated, and of witnessing the disgusting corruption and injustice that has grown for far too long like a cancer in the hell hole that is Walker County.

I don't much believe that there was any crime committed in Jefferson County. They were just looking out for their buddy, who they didn't want to suffer the humiliation of being locked up in the same jail where he and his fellow hypocrite criminals with badges have sent so many people.

And think about it: If dissolution of the Walker County NET had been strategically planned by the sheriff and Walker Co. Commission, then they would have had a well-developed plan put together many weeks or months ago which addressed, among other details, interdepartmental placement of remaining former NET agents and the divestiture of their duties. This was definitely a slapshod, unexpected occurrence set in motion by federal agents, and NOT AT ALL a well planned strategic move by Walker County officials.

Agencies and local governments just DON'T blow off grant money as if they just don't need it, especially in this day and time when the economy is so bad. WALKER COUNTY NET'S FLOW OF GRANT MONEY WAS CUT OFF BY THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT BECAUSE WHEN AN AGENCY HAS VIOLATED FEDERAL LAWS AND/OR VIOLATED PEOPLE'S BASIC RIGHTS, THEY ARE AUTOMATICALLY DISQUALIFIED FROM RECEIVING GOVERNMENT FUNDING. WHEN YOU CONSIDER THAT THE CRIMINAL WRONGDOING AND CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS VIOLATIONS HAVE BEEN GOING ON FOR A VERY LONG TIME AT A REGULAR, ROUTINE PACE, IT WAS PROVED THAT THESE JOKERS HAD DISQUALIFIED THEMSELVES FROM GRANT MONEY ELIGIBILITY MANY, MANY, MANY TIMES OVER.

This is a sad state of affairs, but I have to say that I am not at all surprised or shocked in any way, and my feelings can be summed up in this simple statement:

IT IS ABOUT DARN TIME!

Everybody who feels that their basic rights were violated by these jerks should contact the Birmingham FBI office. No need to be afraid anymore.

this stuff has gone on for years. It's common knowledge that walker county law enforcement has been corrupt! I hope the FBI takes a good look into the death of Paul Kilgores death! Very suspicious circumstances! Was it really suicide or a murder cover up? Did Adam Hadder murder the alleged drug dealer Big Homey to shut him up? Is John Mark Tirey involved? And how about the bumbling big law Butterbean and Adam Hadder causing the death of a 19 year old informant by revealing his identify on TV! These are issues the citizens of Walker county would like answers to and I hope the FBI and ATF take a good look at this! No more conspiracies swept under the carpet!!

You people are all soooo un-informed and ignorant on this topic it's unreal. For starters, the fiscal local govt year ended in October, therefore, the NET grant was not renewed then. If you kept up with the news, you would know that the reason it was not was because the Obama administration cut out so much money, AND it was a matching grant. Therefore, it would have cost the county money to match it with all the salaries. If you don't believe me, look it up. It's all public. But, saying that to say this, John Mark Tirey was not telling the truth about closing the net due to the grant being cut out. As i said, it was already cut! He closed it because the FBI had just interviewed Paul Kilgore and searched his office at the NET. Paul Kilgore had been stealing money and misusing funds for years!! After the FBI informed Tirey what had happened, he decided to close it. He knew that Kilgore was going to be indicted and sent to federal prison, yet he covers it all up by saying that it was due to funding. Then, you hear that Kilgore has retired. Wrong. Then you hear that Kilgore was killed in a car crash. Wrong again. Kilgore never retired, and he actually shot himself in the head, while driving a county owned sheriffs department car, then crashed the car. Why was he still driving that car after all that had happened? Because Tirey was his buddy and did nothing. Kilgore's untouchable attitude would not let the people of the county know what he did, nor would it let him go to prison, so he killed himself. End of that. Second thing. Adam Hadder was not arrested, nor we're any of the other guys at the unit. Kilgore was the one stealing money, not them. They are all still in law enforcement. Just saw Hadder and Huddleston today in a patrol car as a matter of fact. The city of Jasper is another story. They have an ex officer who will be going to prison soon for taking drugs, but as far as I know, he was only employed with Jasper. That's another story for another time. I have no relation with any of the guys at net, Kilgore, Tirey or the city of jasper. I'm just a person that gets good, first hand knowledge, unlike the rest of you that just spout things out that you have no idea about. As the other post stated, spit out the truth or shut up. The bad guys here are Kilgore and Tirey. Stop treating Kilgore as if he were a saint, or even a good man, because he wasn't. Neither is Tirey. He's just as guilty for letting Kilgore get away with it for years, then covering it up. I will agree that I'm sick of the corruption in this county, sheriffs dept. and District Attornies office included. Vote them all out when the time comes.

We know more than you seem to realize. The reason the FBI came in in the first place and all the other state & county workers being investigated for a long history of serious violations. It will all come out when it needs to cut out, but I do have firsthand information and I am aware of the violations of federal law. Don't feel that you are so much wiser than everyone else because you're getting 2nd hand info. There are folks who have provided info to investigators at all levels, and the people who made the initial contact w/ the investigators to begin with. The courts, law enforcement, county social services, attorneys appointed to represent children & parents, and are paid w/ gov't funds, those are just some of the areas impacted. There has been a long history of federal law violations & basic rights/civil rights violations in Walker County, and it has got to end. They COULD NOT get grant money from the federal government because federal laws/constitutional rights had been violated, rendering their agency ineligible. And the federal probe isn't done YET.

Your an idiot if you think your rhetoric is true. NET could have chosen to get the funding if they wanted to, but did not, and before your dumb ass starts to say anything else, call ADECA and ask, as I did!! They will tell you that they did not apply for the grant last year and actually turned it down. Thats first hand informstion!! Oh, guess you didn't even know it was through ADECA did you. You sir/ma'am are an ignorant soul.

I dont see how Paul couldve shot himself in the back of the head and killed himself. I believe that a certain agent knew that he was about to get caught for all his corrupt doings and either killed PK himself or had it done. Whether the truth ever comes out will be another story.
