Ryan sought stimulus funds while decrying program

Aug 17, 2012 Full story: bostonglobe.com 110

In 2009, as Rep. Paul D. Ryan was railing against President Obama's $787 billion stimulus package as a "wasteful spending spree," he wrote at least four letters to Obama's secretary of energy asking that millions of dollars from the program be granted to a pair of Wisconsin conservation groups, according to documents obtained by the Globe.

The advocacy appeared to pay off; both groups were awarded the economic recovery funds -- one receiving a $20 million grant to help thousands of local businesses and homes improve their energy efficiency, agency documents show. Ryanís letters to the energy secretary praising the energy initiatives as he sought a portion of the funding are in sharp contrast to the House Budget Committee chairmanís image as a Tea Party favorite adamantly opposed to federal spending on such programs.

Ask your US REP to introduce the Pay Congress With Vouchers Act of 2012. Here is how it works, the IRS will print a bar graph on the back of tax forms 1040,EZ, etc. the verticle bar graph will be graduated in increments of 10%. We the taxpayers will then fill in the graph according to what we think they should be paid based on their productivity. The base pay will be set at the mininum wage with no raises untill the minimum wage is increased. The IRS will submit these as our vouchers to the treasury to determine what percent of their nearly $200K salary they will get. The treasury will then open one window one day per year so they can stand in long lines to excercise their right to be paid. To prevent voucher fraud they will need to present a photo ID and a certified copy of their birth certificate. Even though corporations are people they shall not be allowed to submit a voucher since they pay no taxes.

Yeah, but to badmouth the stimulus program as much and as often as Ryan did and then send out begging letters with his signature on them asking for stimulus moneys, is really hypocritical.
Besides, he lied about not doing it.
So, so typical.

And Ryan blames the alleged snafu on a staffer in some "other" office. If he can't manage a House of Rep. staff, it stands to reason he can't manage a VP or White House staff.

Add hypocrite 2 to hypocrite 2 and you've got quite the Republicryte ticket.

Better to take tax payer money stolen by the Sheriff of Nottingham, and return it to the people with viable energy projects, than to let the clueless bureacrat chief keep the stolen goods for more crony and inept Solyndra types.

Sure insurance and drug companies agreed to the cuts.

Doctors on the other hand are choosing to NOT accept the lower Medicare re-imbursements and MANY doctors are no longer accepting Medicare recipients as patients.

That ought to be ended. No doctor should simply be able to refuse a patient because he doesn't like the reimbursement their insurance provides. That's clearly just WRONG.

No.

I learned about doctors NOT accepting Medicare when I heard about a neighbor who was looking to find a good surgeon to do a hip replacement.

Not all doctors accept Medicare (especially the good ones who command a higher price for their quality services)

Who would you want to replace your hip?? A quality doctor who charges an 'arm and a leg' <pun>. Or a HACK who will accept any amount to cut you open??
