I noticed no conservatives responded to OT's well stated posts concerning the unlikelihood of a GOP victory in this year's general election...just more copy and paste from the "Obama sucks" file.

Don't forget, hardcore evangelicals would NEVER vote for a member of cult, a member who donates millions and millions of dollars annually, no less. I think people are underestimating the stigma of Romney's Mormon faith.

There is no reason to hide such a comparison.

Refer to this chart...

$801 billion (Iraq) vs.$1.1 billion (Libya). Which one would a true fiscal conservative choose?

I am as conservative as ya can get...and would vote for ANYONE else but obama...even hilary, even the local drunk, even a third grader. That is my response.

cute as you try to be, do try to keep up, we weren't talking about Iraq...but the situation regarding Israel and expected expenses regarding the same.

I got it: comparing Libya to Iraq, which makes the Libyan issue seem much more intelligent and successful by contrast, is bad, and we should stick to only issues that offer no approval of the current administration. Um, okay.

LOL wrong, once again. We weren't talking about how much money was spent in Iraq. Iraq was only mentioned in reference to Israel had bombed their nuclear reactors before (as well as Syria). The subject was Israel. Now third time is charm...see if ya can stay on subject and saracastic as always (that goes without saying of course - me bad for saying it).

The November election will most certainly be a close one. This country is evenly divided and the presidency will most likely be decided by a small segment of voters in the center who have no alliegence to either party. The economy will play a role, and so will gas prices which COULD derail the Obama campaign and swing open the doors of 1600 to Mitt.
Still.....the trend for future Republican wins seems unlikely.
The nominating process in the GOP has managed to devolve into a slugfest filled with code, "certain neighborhoods" "lacking role models" "food stamp President", and lest we forget...Santorum's "blacks" quote which he changed to "blahhhs". With this nominating process, the GOP looks more like the party of George Wallace and Strom than Lincoln, which it would seem to me, will place blacks (African Americans for the PC crowd) more firmly than ever in the Democrat column.
They have done no better with the fastest growing segment of the American population, Hispanics. All of that demographic they can hope to hold is the Cubans, and they cling to the Republicans for one reason, an outdated Cuban policy.
They have lost environmentalists, with their constant drumb beat of deregulation, their denial of global warming, and a policy of domestic energy production at any cost.
Gays are firmly in the Dem's column and the heated rhetoric from the primary candidates regarding gay marriage assures they will not vote for a Republican, anytime soon, as public opinion swings away from the GOP position on gays.
A lot of college educated Americans must have to laugh at Republican rhetoric with their "world is flat and 6000 years old" idea. Scientists ??? what are they ?
Seniors who vote consistently in high numbers MUST be excited to place a person in the White House that supports an additional Medicare premium on them amounting to $6,000.00 a year, and ALL of the GOP candidates support the Ryan Budget passed out of the House.
Young college kids.....for them the Republican plans to trim Pell Grants and get govt out of the student loan business MUST be music to their ears.
Union members... the former Reagan Democrats... not a chance after a preview of the GOP ideas on unions in Wisconsin. Cont...
Yer right. Why don't we just do away with the election entirely? And while we're at it, we can throw out that outdated Constitution – no one pays any attention to it anyway.

Bill of Rights? Out with the Constitution. Maybe we can make a new one. We’ll take Ginsburg’s suggestion and use the one from South Africa. They’re much smarter than us anyway.

But why stop there? Maybe I’ll close my business, and go on Welfare & food stamps. They’re gonna take the money anyway, so why work?

As a matter of fact, why get out of bed in the AM?

Yup. You have the right idea. Give up on everything.

"The Obama administration is the major force in U.S politics opposed to war with Iran, it's defeat in November would increase, to near certitude the probability of a U.S. war with Iran in 2013.
Yet if the Pentagon and U.S. intellegence community are correct--Iran does not have a bomb and has not decided to build a bomb--why should we go to war with Iran ?
Answer: Iran represents an "existential threat" to Israel.
BUT, Israel has 200 atomic bombs and three ways to deliver them, while Iran has never built, tested or weaponized a nuclear device. Who is the existential threat to whom here ?"

That quote is from a column written by Patrick Buchanan, and carried last week by the local paper.
There have been more than a few times when this "liberal" has agreed with Buchanan, the "conservative" and this is another one of those times.

Truthfully Timbuck I have no idea what you are posting about. I simply pointed out how far to the right of the mainstream, the Republican party has moved, and how out of touch those positions are with where average voters are. Can Mitt win... sure in THIS election, but in my opinion, without changes in the party platform to more accurately reflect who, and where the majority of voters are on the issues....their chances of future victories are not very good. Refute that scenario if you want to and I will be glad to read your take and respond......but...whether you get out of bed in the morning will not have any effect on me one way or the other.

Are you serious? THIS is your response to an intelligent post concerning the flimsy chances of a GOP victory in November? A textual tantrum?

The Republican candidates continue to try to "out-right" each other, to the eventual detriment of their general campaign. Moderates typically determine electoral victories and the farther the GOP candidates race to the right, the more impossible it will become to convince the swing voters that they're not right-wing radicals, but rather level-headed moderates.

I go to a Baptist Church and our pastor said he's voting for Romney. He thinks Obama is a Muslim and a non-christian. I can't understand why people keep saying this stuff.
I bet if Romney suddenly switched to the Democratic ticket these same individuals would then say Romney had a cult religion and they wouldn't vote for him.

OT, I hadn't see where the pentagon and intelligence community has finally decided Iran "does not have a bomb and has decided not to build a bomb"...Have you seen this 2 or is Buchanan purely speculating?

Daily Horoscope for June 4

Aquarius

The emotional atmosphere is quite potent under this Lunar Eclipse, evoking a sense of crisis. The problems you've been experiencing with a certain person lately come to a head during the next fortnight, making you feel that you have to take drastic action or lay down the law. Yet this could make the situation worse than ever, especially if you act from a sense of panic or desperation. Take things gently and don't throw your weight around unless it's absolutely necessary.
