I can't speak for all teachers, bus drivers, aids, and lunch staff; but I know that there are caring ones that are there for the children. I grew up with a 6th grade teacher that was more than just a school teacher but one that taught life lessons and made good citizens out of those that passed through his class at CES. I went to a high school that when tragedy hit we all drew together (teacher and student alike) to over come death of classmates(several). Clarkrange or SFES is a family just like the other part of the county. Not because we are a kin by blood alone and some I am sure are, but this is where we live; this is home. I am proud of hometown values that are taught. There were slower kids when I was growing up but not an IEP. If you didn't "get it" then you weren't passed. Now there is something called no child left behind. This is the act of government dumbing down the curriculum for children that are not in SPED so they can go forward with good grades, but the moment a teacher tries to push some peoples children to learn, instead of momma and daddy trying to help, parents throw the teachers who care under the their being mean to my baby bus. There are those teachers that don't care (always have been some), but what about those that spend their money that they have spent hours getting for their families on your child because they don't have supplies, money for lunch, or even clean clothes. I've seen it. While I was in school and now that I am out I have seen it for 22 years and I am not even a teacher. I have seen teachers have to pull kids aside and explain what body odor is and give a child there first deodorant bar. Is this their job is this what they paid for their college for.... to be a personal hygeine coach for your child. I am not a teacher. I was toying with the idea one time in my life, but I decided that I didn't want to take my work home with me, I didn't want to see some child struggle and know for a fact that they didn't have much of a home life, I didn't want to know that the only one that would take time for someone else's child was me ... I couln't handle the thoughts of that on top of trying to get some education in there with it too. So I went to college and spent my student loan on something for myself; selfish I know, but I knew I didn't have the heart of a teacher. So to those who went above and beyond their job titles, you know who you are you don't have to be called out by name THANK YOU. People like you are the reason you will see my children roam those sacred halls that you have cried in, worried for some child heading home, and cried out to God on their behalf may Our Lord strengthen your spirit, clear your minds, and keep your hearts bleeding for our youth. God bless you SFES faculty an staff and the whole county because it's just a matter of time before the big comes to our small town and then everyone of us and our children will be just another face in the crowd... That was 1995 yearbook's slogan wasn't it but this time it won't be the same.

You don't see these kind of teachers anymore. They r a thing of the past...Go ahead and have your grand child tested and see where they are at.Go spend a little time with them.Like they said You better wake up and smell them roses. Those teachers are long gone and a thing of the past.

No...fire them. The principles of failing schools should be replaced. This idea that the taxpayer should move is sad. So on a macro level..If I don't like what the feds are doing I should move to another country? You have totally neglected what the responsibilities of a citizen are.

The school board along with the administration continue to show their incompetance by allowing the leaders of the failing schools in this county to continue to run them. But then again, it's a family and friends affair isn't it?

If u want your child to become a college grad u better jump on board and stand up for them because noone else is going to.U better do a little investigating and see for yourself.Teachers are not teachers anymore, its merely a socialization place.I could point some names of some but what would that solve???They all need to be replaced from MIKE JONES right on down the line,mIKE is so 2 faced, just turns my stomach

So I do not think you have any room to talk about how bad the school system is. I'm pretty sure most of the people in it can do better than you.

I knew this was gonna happen sooner or later. Why does it matter that I cant spell or do not have proper grammar?????????? Just answer that question.I am a product of a sorry school system there for I will fight for my kids education till I die. What does it matter that I didnt go to college?????? I want better for my kids is that a problem???I DONT STAND AT THE SCHOOL WANTING TO BE CALLED TEACHER WITH MY HAND HELD OUT WAITING ON MY CHECK while doing nothing.Once again what does me being uneducated have to do with it?I would say that you are one of teachers with ruffled feathers.

I know all are not like what you are saying. I have personally seen more money spent by teachers at SFES than what the state funded the classroom with for supplies, clothes, and shoes. This wasn't while I was in school, but this year, and the year before that, and the year before that, and the year before that. Every job has floaters. Next week instead of coming on here and polluting the good with the bad go look at each individual teachers scores from last year and see if they are all the same and deserve to be lumped together. Sad thing is most wouldn't have even known that there were low scores unless they had been notified by the same administration that they are slamming( real involvement huh!). Look at the score of individuals and them confront the administration if you are really concerned. If you are not concerned just wanting to pass time stay on here and post in a place just to relieve yourself of the guilt of not getting involved in your child's education.

You are probably right. Most parents would not no it unless notified because they dont have an interest in there kids thats the reason I stress sit down with them and see what they no.It will shock u to see how bad it is.SFE hates an involved parent. The administration that I am slamming WOULD NOT have notified anyone if they didnt have to.Dont think 4 a minute that it didnt kill them.tHE TRUTH IS that I have known 4 yrs that these kids were behind.I did not need to be notified of it.U have VERY FEW teachers that do there jobs.If u are one of them then keep up the good work

Please...If 'anyone' but those that are revered in fentress county, brings any comments that are objectionable, they will be scoffed at. Please...'try' to find some reality. The county administration will continue with marginal education..While giving each other raises, and family employment...
