The thing about the business that he was in is that once you get caught you have nowhere to turn. The police who are suppose to keep you safe want to lock you up. The friends that you thought you had want to protect their own ass at any cost. Nobody trusts anybody. When you go down in that business, you’re alone. If he did or did not rat, who knows, who cares, but what would really be a shame, would be if he did not rat and he was still killed because people thought he did. What would be even worse than that, would be if after he was killed for something he didn't do. Everyone assumed he did and destroyed the reputation of a dead man.
