i am a football fan and former player with the semiprofessional jamestown dukes back in the late 50's.we had a lot of fun and fans back then and looking forward to watch future games.i think it is quite venturesome for city fathers to get behind this great addition to our community. god willing i intend to watch every game.does anyone have a schedule yet?

I give credit to people trying to get this off the ground. I'm trying to get a feel for what level of football we are talking about here. I don't notice any of the top level flag football players on the team roster (based on what I read in the paper describing the games). I don't notice many outstanding area high school veterans. It will be interesting to see how it goes in the future. Will the team get off the ground and find some organizational success. As a result of that will more established players approach the team? Will the management try to get the best players available, even if it means dropping some of these guys that made the initial roster? Will they destroy Big Chiefs Carpet store if they don't get paid?(see Jamestown Vikings)

I have heard several weeks of this team from a CoWorker that is trying out and hoping to be a part. Just remember Junior Adams. I got Him His start on a football card that will be worth millions some day.

Interested, who do you know that plays for us? Joe, we're not the Vikings, so please do not confuse us with them. Also, as of February 2nd, 2009 at 9:30PM, we are in the NFA, and you can see who we are playing by going to http://www.eteamz.com/NFA/ . You have no idea how hard it is to start a sports franchise. However, the bulk of our work is done. That goes to show how much "organizational success" we have. If people want to continue to try to put us down, and say it wont happen, by all means, feel free to do so. We can't control the way people think. However, when we walk out onto that field, and win our games, you'll see how much more "organizational success" we have. Secondly, in order to get better players, we needed a stable foundation, which we now have. In the last 2 weeks, we have gotten 20 players, just by us being in the Post Journal and the Chautauqua Star. Players also have to sign a contract. Part of the contract is player conduct which can be seen on our website. We have already kicked 5 people off the team because they acquired criminal charges. Our goal is to operate as an NFL team, and so far, that is what we are doing.

Hey Shane,
Good luck on the season. Sounds like you are off to a good start. It's good to see you are in the NFA. The Buffalo Gladiators have had success there for quite some time. I think in a short time you have indeed accomplished some "organizational success." I think it is also great that I-90 or Route 86 gets you to most games. I see most of the league games are played on Saturday nights July through September with the championships being in early October. Will you be using Strider field?

Joe, we don't have a definite answer yet, but the community will certainly know when we have a venue. The Buffalo Gladiators are a very organized team as well as the other teams in the NFA.

First of all, we really appreciate the overwhelming amount of support we are getting from the community. This is not me or Joe's team, it is Jamestown's team. So evidently, you have faith in your team, and it makes me happy to see that. Hot Mama, if your sons are at least 18 years old, please send them to Bergman Park on Saturdays at 11:45 AM. Many people call me or Joe and ask us if it is too late to try out, and it's not. It wont be too late until April.

Don't take this the wrong way(I'm sure it will though)8-10,000 is a pipe dream. And, it's semi pro so let's call it what it is. I do hope there is success with this venture, but we shouldn't get disappointed if it fails.

BYOB? If they're using Strider Field there should be no alcohol or any other substance. Locker room included!!

Probably, but I'll opt to go to as many High School games as I can, instead. I would rather my money and support go to the kids.

I think the Jamestown Chiefs semi-professional football team is an absolute joke. I mean these are players-kids that haven't grown up. The fact that Jamestown board is letting them play their games at Strider Field irritates me to high heaven. I mean half of these kids like you guys have said are nothing but trouble makers, and the other half are guys who didn't play or make their high school teams. Anyone else agree with me that this is just a major joke and waste of time, and a waste of all of our tax money!
