Obesity. Beer Guts. Slovenly. Fat people sitting in traffic jams. Waffle house slobs. Golden Corral. Man-boobs.

These images of Jacksonville make outsiders cringe. When you go to work, go to the store, etc.- look around.

No, try living in KY, WV or VA. Much worse.

Having no downtown where people can walk to work/dinner/store/homes ofcourse creates more fat people. You can't go anywhere here w/o a car. Throw in fast food everywhere with people that have no education and culture and you have unhealthy people

There is a lot of peer pressure in Jacksonville to be fat. When I moved here for work I felt so out of place. Everybody was heavyset and sedentary but me. Well 3 years later I have put on 25 pounds. Strangely I do feel that I blend in more now that I am heavier. I guess you want to fit in with the pack.

Being fat has nothing to do with "downtown", cars, fast food, education, or culture.

Only thing worse than these photos is ones where the people have let themselves go so bad that they are: obese, in a wheelchair and have their legs amputated.....sad and unnecessary.

I hardly call people like that "physically disabled." They costs the rest of us all kinds of money through Medicaid premiums, and the normal of us, good p[laces to park. Those trailer-mentalities are emotionally disabled, brought on by generations of previous stupidity and apathy.
