Full story: New Hampshire Public Radio -

Historically, the veteran and military vote has gone Republican. In 2008, for example, while losing the presidency, John McCain - a war hero - won 55 percent of this vote.

Can we actually live through another 4 years of what we have gone through already. Unemployment, poor housing market, jobs market in severe decline, returning vets who want their claims processed and only hit the wall? How does the returning veteran 'adjust' to the already dis-functioning society that has been created by more liberalism? How do we put pride in a flag that is already badly tarnished? Created by congress and the presidents 'rule'!

Odumbo cut military spending
Military coming home with no jobs
Military not getting medical care because of cuts to VA hospitals and services
If it wasn't for the private donations by the Wounded Warrior Project our fighting disabled and their families would have no support to live a better way of life.
Odumbo want more cuts then he needs to pull all troops out of the middle east now.

Dubya is the Reich-wing conservative who LIED the country into the illegal and immoral Iraqi war. He's the one who destroyed the economy. He's the one destroyed America's reputation around the world. Fortunately President Obama has made great progress getting things back on track....even while the un-American unpatriotic Repukes have obstructed every effort he makes.

No wonder Reuters reports "If the election were held today, Obama would win the veteran vote by as much as seven points over Romney, higher than his margin in the general population...." http://www.reuters.com/article/2012/05/13/us-...

Mad Man, your question is “Can we actually live through another 4 years” the yes is yes we can live through another four years the bigger question is how will we be living? Grease Maybe, or could we be head toward Kenya or even Hatti?
PlacitasRoy all war is illegal and immoral in some form or fashion illegal and immoral actions form someone’s perspective is what leads to war. Also “NO” one man can destroy the economy of America as we sit today, it takes the actions of a majority of 545 men and women in Washington D.C. Who by the way, 536 are placed there by the voters and can be replaced every 2 to 6 years. By the way “NO” man can fix the economy either.
The best the government can do is allow the economy to work government “Can NOT” be the economy.

“Orwell said this would happen.”

It's not exactly a slam dunk.

From the same Reuter's article: "Overall, like the rest of the nation, former soldiers are deeply concerned about the future. Only 24 percent in the Reuters poll said the country is headed in the right direction, with 60 percent saying it is off on the wrong track."

And this from the same article: "Asked about Obama's handling of his job, 27 percent of veterans approved, and 37 percent disapproved, with the rest undecided."

President Obama promoted and signed the Veterans Benefit bill (known as H.R. 3219) into law. The new law enhances a number of veterans' benefits including new opportunities for employment, increased medical care for homeless veterans, plus expanded insurance limits. VA benefit delays to severely injured veterans were improved, and it also provided better financial and legal protection for deployed troops. Smaller provisions are included in the bill as well, such as increased childcare services.

This bill, applauded by combat veterans, is a long awaited step in the right direction and was bitterly opposed by the conservative right wing of both parties.

No “war” is heroic however; war is inevitable in almost every case. The people who volunteer or are forced to are the ones who are heroic and perform heroic acts. Tell the 65 year old man who has had the privilege to have and raise children and now spends to with grandchildren that the guy who saved his life was no hero. Self-sacrifice for a friend or even a stranger when the outcome is unclear and any reward is doubtful, that is when we see Heroic acts.

Do you really believe that is going to work? The back log is still there. The benefits are being overhauled and many find out they are out of the income eligibility and the waiting lines for PTSD and treatment are just too long to mention. The housing market in in the dumper and the view of the American vet has been tarnished by soldiers still losing their lives overseas. Where do you see improvement here?

I'm a vet, and the last person I'd vote for is a draftdodging Sunshine Patriot. And don't even bring up Obama. He didn't start any wars or dodge the draft. Mittens supported The Eyerack War and the war in Clusterfuckistan. He dodged Vietnam like the rest of the Repub candidates.

FlacidBoy,

Your last sentence sums up your looney stance perfectly. You finally admit that you don't support us Veterans or Military Families unless they support the loon in the White House. You would support Charles Manson if he voted for odumber, wouldn't you? If a Republican could fix all the issues we had in this country you would still stick by your partison loons and watch us all since into the mire. You all are hatefilled fool!!

"American policymakers, setting themselves up as guardians of the world system, are more inclined than ever to simply disregard international laws and conventions if they get in the way of unrivaled military supremacy. Every instance of U.S. armed intervention ....represents a flagrant violation of regional treaties and laws, not to mention the UN Charter itself, which explicitly prohibits military attacks against sovereign nations - for example, Grenada, Nicaragua, Haiti, Panama, Serbia, and Iraq. In any event, the U.S. has consistently shown its contempt for international bodies, agreements, and procedures that might conflict with its hegemonic aspirations."
