yea! i feel a lot safer now. businesses that would do something this stupid to begin with is ridiculous - they would basically be telling the criminals that no one on their premises is armed. that would be sorta like inviting them in, wouldn't it?

Sad that the Senate believes they know better then a business. I guess when an employee brings a gun to work and goes postal the State of Florida will share in the legal defense cost and settlements!

I think it is a wonderful idea. Hopfully people will get the training they need to use the firearm. If you pull it, you better know how to use it and don't be afraid of it or afraid to use it,or it could get in the wrong hands and then what? You lose.

As a Corrections Officer, I am authorized to carry a firearm, with only a "basic load" fir that firearm, in a locked vault inside my locked vehicle. Which means that my .357 magnum, which holds 6 rounds, I can only carry 6 rounds of ammo for that particular weapon. If it were an automatic weapon, I could only carry one fully loaded magazine for that weapon. Funny thing is, there is a 5 day waiting period to purchase a handgun. If some lunatic, ex-wife, or ovulating woman PMSing, is a around, it would take less than 5 minutes to retreive a handgun from a vehicle and "dust off" some innocent individual. But in Jacksonville, with the shootings so rampant, especially on the northside, a person needs protection.

If the proper training is required before anyone can do this then that is fine. I have a question though. Is everyone who decides to do this going to be required to obtain a concealed license permit in addition to the training?

For those of you who are opposed, how many of you have actually taken the time to read the bill. By the way, it's
name is SB 1130. It is well written and takes into consideration certain types of businesses that it would not be safe for. This also is ONLY for licensed Concealed Weapon holders. The gun still has to be secured.
For some of us it isn't the work place that we fear, it's the ride to and from. If I want (or need) protection in my comute, what am I going to do with my legal weapon once I arrive at work?
Be informed!!
