Single mom moving to Jax.. are there any assistance programs for childcare?

Please white people live at the welfare office. I live in Atlantic Beach and doing good. But my white friends will act a fool when they down grade their foodstamps from 1500 a month to 800 a month and i have to pay cash, they do not want to put baby daddy on child support they would rather add him to their case to increase their stamps.Do the research their are more whites on welfare than blacks please do your home work.The people that are talking have no children, scared to put baby daddy on child support, working 2 or 3 jobs to make ends meet. Enjoy life like me...I am black and INDEPENDENT with a husband and will be enjoying a cruise in Oct for 8 days and a mother of four not on WELFARE people.. work smart not hard..lol

FYI: I wasn't born into wealth & my son's father happened to be like 95% of the male population of America's sperm donors. I moved to Jacksonville to better my life for my son & it just so happens my brother was stationed here after being deployed over sees fighting for you judgemental idiots. I'm a single momma working hard to get ahead for my son so if you idiots want to judge me or any other mom who decides to move to a city for opportunities...you can stick it where the sun doesn't shine! I got on here to ask the same question. Glad I haven't met anyone in Jacksonville. & FYI...I'm 23, a college student, working, I pay for daycare, & food. The only thing I can't cover is my own apt. Which is what these government programs are for. They are to help you get on your feet. So, you shouldn't be so quick to judge. Maybe...this mom is trying to get on her feet because some lousy douch bag desided to hit her or she just needs a fresh start. So to all you people born into money and so quick to judge people..just remember something, there's no difference between me & YOU! I'm working hard earning my paycheck cleaning up after you lousy citizens who don't deserve it. Ps. Go screw yourself!

I am a SINGLE MOM, with two jobs, and in school, JUST so I can support the children I made WITH HELP FROM ANOTHER HUMAN BEING. So be it if I needed assistance with food or childcare while I busted my ass to support myself and my children. Oh yeah, genius. I DID say I work TWO jobs. That means I pay taxes. WHICH MEANS MY TAX DOLLARS ALSO HELP OUT OTHER NEEDY PEOPLE. But I dont complain because I know at one time I was a needy person. Only God can judge me. Being a "single" Parent, you CAN NOT GO TO WORK if you do not have childcare! Thus, you CAN NOT GET A JOB and you have to live COMPLETELY off of the government or you and your children starve or die from environmental exposure! The point of childcare assistance is to help cover some of the cost of such care, so you CAN GET A JOB! As you become more finacially stable, the assistance decressess until you no longer need it. Giving assistance to THOSE WHO NEED IT, such as a single parent trying to get on her own two feet, allows for lower unemployment rates and a stonger ecomony for all.

Sounds like you made some bad decisions, and now you and tax payers are paying for it. Why don't you go to court and have the babies daddies pay child support. Tax payers should not be paying for you bad decisions. You and the other parent should.

Because you dumbass she can't work if she can't afford daycare, unbelievable, it is people like you that make being a single mother harder than necessary. I am college educated and have a great job on paper, but I need assistance to pay daycare because I am a SINGLE MOTHER! OMG what century do you live in? Bad decisions how? Because she chose to love someone that turned out to be a piece of sh*t? Well, what does that say of the number of women who were not only invested in a crappy relationship, but actually married? I was one of those, and when my SOB ex-husband chose to leave, he thought he didn't have to pay child support. Let me tell you, he thought wrong. Oh, and even if she is fortunate enough to be able to forge her way through the child support system and is actually awarded child support significant enough to aid in the support of the child, good luck on collecting it from the deadbeat. When my ex decided to bail on his family, unfortunately (or fortunately) I discovered I had to go down in order to go up. I had to leave the comfortable home I had set up for my family to move to government housing. I had to go on food stamps and welfare because I hadn't worked since having babies. And I did all this kicking and screaming. Life wasn't supposed to turn out this way.

Fortunately, I became one of the success stories, acquiring a job the same day I was able to secure child care assistance. I was able to move out of government assistance and buy my own home. I am happy to now report I am fully off all that assistance that helped to carry my family through the darkest of times. But I will never forget how we got here and the struggles along the way.

I just wish all single parents, regardless of how they got there, the best of luck in providing for their babies, with whatever help they can get.

Oh, and btw, I had a work record from the age of 14, until my babies, which happened in my early 30's. Not what you imagined, huh?

People who have been stay at home moms and lost their husbands and have gone back to work and other situations occur. What is unbelievable is you passing judgement and being rude to someone who's situation you DO NOT know. When you go through something in your life that requires you to need help from someone, I hope God delivers you through it. Before you pass judgement, look in the mirror.

Unfortunately, probably another example of someone not knowing what they are talking about since they've never been in that situation. I NEVER dreamed I'd need help when I got married. But then again, I NEVER dreamed I'd end up divorced with babies.

I think most of the posts here are horrible. WHY can't we all get along? I have a daughter who is a single mom with a child.
I'm paying her rent, utilities, phone etc. She REALLY wants to go out and work but found out that she would earn what childcare costs in Jacksonville. And we're not even talking the taxes that would come out of her check. She needs help, not nasty remarks. I'm 63 years old and disabled, so I can't take care of a baby. And it's taking my entire social security check to help her. As I said before, she needs help!!
