The last execution in the UK took place in 1964 and the death sentence was abolished shortly afterwards. In the UK there is a sentence of "Life Without Parole" which applies to our most heinous criminals such as Rosemary West, Ian Brady, Ian Huntley and a few others. Although I am very sympathetic to Colleen's family I don't think the death sentence solves anything - in particular what must be galling for her family is the sight of Christa bemoaning her 23 hours per day captivity. I think if Christa had life without parole - the media would lose interest and Colleen's family might be spared the spectacle of Christa being interviewed and being accorded a sick "criminal celebrity" status. Given her second murder attempt I think Society could never accept her release and awful though it may seem we are all safer if she is kept inside.(even in Britain!)

Due to ms. pike's inability to understand the gravity of what she was doing the death penalty should not be used on her. I guarentee that had the jury heard the evidence i heard while watching a post conviction hearing they would not have considered death but settled very appropriatly on a life sentance without the possibility of parole as she deserves. She commited a sick and twisted crime you were correct, but how can she be put to death when she couldnt even comprehend the severity of her actions?(I ommited some of the more graphic details in respect to those who, like myself, would rather not hear them; but i assure you she did not have a full understanding of the situation)
