Our hearts go out to Tracy and her children. We met the Filippi family when they first moved to Ponte Vedra Beach a few years ago and had lost touch. We are saddened to learn of Eugenio's death and the hardship the family is going through. The thing that struck us about Eugenio and his family was the pure joy and love he felt for his family, and the carefee and loving attitude of the family as a whole. They are a special family.

You have to be kidding. Tragedy? It's a tragedy anyone is killed at any time, especially unexpectedly, and leaves behind three children. That's where the tragedy was.
The fact that the family is having "financial difficulties" is their own fault. If one looks at all of the "toys" that were displayed for auction - multiple expensive vehicles and boats, as well as immense amounts of art, collectibles, etc.- clearly money was in plentiful supply when he was alive. And yet, not one dollar of life insurance! This is where the tragedy becomes a matter of stupidity and selfishness. Then there is another one of his toys - the motorcycle - that killed him. Was alcohol a factor in the late-night, single vehicle accident or just careless driving? Neither is a good answer.
What father who cares about his kids carries no life insurance though he can clearly afford it? What mother LETS him do that? For the family to even ALLOW much less ASK for donations is an enormous insult to the countless members of our community who experience tragedies through no fault of their own and have little or no resources to handle the situation, also through no fault of their own. There are, unfortunately, plenty of people here who have a much more legitimate need for financial assistance. This demeans the entire concept for a family with a Porsche and so many other expensive toys to claim that they need assistance. SHAME ON YOU FOR GIVING THEM ANY AIR TIME!!!!
You should have presented the story as a lesson for parents to be sure that they have adequate life insurance so that this does NOT happen to their family.

Sounds like Daddy was more worried about owning toys than protecting his family, shame on him.
Just one of his toys cost more than most people make a year.
It really irks me when they print an article soley to beg for money.

I was reading this story and thinking to myself that "I cannot believe this story is getting airtime". They own mutliple pieces of property and a million dollar home and they are asking for donations? It is mind boggling. When I first saw the headline, I assumed it was a poor family with multiple children who suffered a death in the family. It is clear that if the wife would liquidate some of their assets, they would have no financial problems. I am sorry for their loss, but there are so many more people out there in greater need that this. Shame on Channel 12 for making this sound like a desperate situation. This is absolutely ridiculous!

to everybody that wrote here, my uncle Eugenio was a very good man , a good father , a good human being and the best uncle i could ever have wished for. Like everybody else , he sometimes made mistakes, he was human. He loved all of us so much , and we miss him every single freeking day of our lives. I was really close to them, and they were an extremely loving family, they were really special, and he worked his ass off to get every single thing he ever bought..
don't judge just because it is an article, just because it isn't your life, your problems. People sometimes make terrible mistakes, i must say that was one of them, but you never got to know him as a person or as anything, so show some respect.

To those of you that made the comments about the family asking for donations I want you to know that it was "NOT" the Filippi's family who asked for donations;it was a friend of the Family who d wanted to show a way of helping.It is very easy to judge someone without knowing him.OUT OF RESPECT...I would advise you to keep your comments to yourself if you don't have anything good to say.As Carolina said in his comment it was just a terrible mistake.The fact is that a 44 year old man full of health and happiness does not expect to die and leave his family without insurance. It is very disturbing for his family members who are still hurting badly from their terrible loss to have to read comments judging Eugenio instead of praying for them.Eugenio was a hard worker and everything he had he obtained working very hard next to his very suportive wife Tracy.He was a good father,good husband good brother and friend who deserves to rest in peace.I knew Eugenio for 24 years and I can tell you we lost a wonderful human being.

To You Tracy and Kids: My most sincere condolence and I will be praying for you and Eugenio.I love you all.

eric,duh and my thoughts exactly - How low in life do you have to sink to get a little attention. If you had a "REAL" life you would not have so much free time to spreed such jealous hatred for someone you don't even know. But of course you had to steal from some other low-life because you can not formulate your own thoughts of hate. How sad.

To those that replied back in Sept 2007 -
When tragedies like this occur - its best that you keep your comments to yourself unless your goal is to add to the pain that the family is already experiencing.
Unless you know the full story, its impossible to know what really occurred - like the fact the multiple sellers partipated in the sale - not just the family of Eugenio.
Remember that Eugenio was a father and a husband and your comments are visible to all.

I can't believe its been 3 years.. We miss you so much, you were like a father to all of us.
