"Over 70 percent of CEOs fear an Obama presidency will be a disaster"

Chief Executive magazine’s most recent polling of 751 CEOs shows that GOP presidential candidate John McCain is the preferred choice for CEOs. According to the poll, which is featured on the cover of Chief Executive’s most recent issue, by a four-to-one margin, CEOs support Senator John McCain over Senator Barack Obama. Moreover, 74 percent of the executives say they fear that an Obama presidency would be disastrous for the country.

“The stakes for this presidential election are higher than they’ve ever been in recent memory,” said Edward M. Kopko, CEO and Publisher of Chief Executive magazine.“We’ve been experiencing consecutive job losses for nine months now. There’s no doubt that reviving the job market will be a top priority for the incoming president. And job creating CEOs repeatedly tell us that McCain’s policies are far more conducive to a more positive employment environment than Obama’s.”

For several months during this presidential election year, Chief Executive has conducted specialized polling of CEOs’ attitudes on issues affecting national policy and the economy. During this period CEOs were first asked what policies and approaches would work best for business, energy policy and job creation. Subsequently, they were asked which presidential candidate’s policies were best aligned with these prescriptions for growth.

Even though CEOs rated McCain’s policies over Obama’s in the most recent polling, their support came with reservations, as can be witnessed by the B- grade given to McCain’s overall policies. McCain received strong marks for defense and foreign policy but only a C+ on energy, environment and education. Conversely, Barack Obama’s overall plan received a barely passing C- with four out of eight policy areas receiving D grades. Neither candidate received an A.

“I’m not terribly excited about McCain being president, but I’m sure that Obama, if elected, will have a negative impact on business and the economy,” said one CEO voicing his lack of enthusiasm for either candidate, but particularly Obama.

In expressing their rejection of Senator Obama, some CEOs who responded to the survey went as far as to say that “some of his programs would bankrupt the country within three years, if implemented.” In fact, the poll highlights that Obama’s tax policies, which scored the lowest grade in the poll, are particularly unpopular among CEOs.

“Overall, many CEOs are concerned about the future of the U.S. economy and its ability to compete in the global market, but they look to John McCain and hope that this self-described political maverick may yet shake up established thinking and not give into to the tired policies of the past,” concluded Kopko.

What good are middle class taxcuts if they don't have jobs. Workers and welfare recipients do not create jobs and employ our workforce. They are important, but without incentives why should CEO's stay on shore when they can incorporate in a foreign country, be a foreign entity and import to the US because corporate tax regulations have become too punitive? An estimated 16 Trillion American dollars are sitting offshore this minute because of our current tax laws. With Obama's plan, as indicated in your article, it will become worse. There is no incentive to suceed because you will just have to hand it over to the governemtn to be redistributed to someone who needs your money more than you do. Let me decide who I wish to share any excess money with--not Washington.

Better yet, since Barack has decided that nobody needs any more money over $250,000, let him and Joe (and any other democratic "leader" supporting him ) start by donating everything they have in assets over 250,000 to the Treasury.

Does this survey include the Wall Street CEO's? These CEO's get big bonuses and golden parachutes. They claim they will create jobs, but they have not created jobs. Jobs have been declining throughout Bush's presidency, and McCain has the same policies as Bush.
I think they are concerned for themselves and their own income, and Obama would ruin their little party. They are not concerned about Obama because it would pose a danger to job creation. Obama would stimulate job growth, and education, and competition.

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com )-- Employers made their deepest cut in staffing in almost five years in February, the Labor Department reported Friday.

There was a net loss of 63,000 jobs, which is the biggest decline since March 2003 and weaker than the revised 22,000 jobs lost in January. Economists had forecast a gain of 25,000 jobs.

The weak report fueled already mounting recession fears and is likely to keep the Federal Reserve cutting interest rates further when it meets later this month.

"Based on today's Employment Report, if we are not in a recession, it is a darned good imitation of one," said Kevin Giddis, managing director of fixed income at Morgan Keegan. "We are in an unprecedented real estate and credit crisis that is whipping its way through the U.S. economy like a Midwestern tornado."

Job losses were widespread, reaching beyond the battered construction sector, which lost 39,000, and manufacturing, where job losses hit 52,000.

Retailers cut 34,000 jobs.

Temporary staffing firms cut nearly 28,000 from their payrolls, another warning sign of employers pulling back.

Hotels cut about 4,000 jobs, a sign that discretionary consumer spending could be on the wane.

Overall the private sector cut 101,000 jobs, with only a gain in government employment limiting losses.

"Job growth appears to have weakened across nearly every industry with the exception of health care and government," said Keith Hall, the commissioner of the Bureau of Labor Statistics, which prepares the jobs report, testified Friday before a congressional committee.

Yep -- RepubliFat-Kats only export jobs to the Chi.com s and Malays. Any worker , but an American worker is the song of those $$$.hoe job_rapists.

I'd force all the industries back to the USA. Rigid tariffs. Progressive taxes. If anyone doesn't like it they can go live in China.

This video is about 10 min long but is well worth watching. Lots of great information. For all the people who think the Bush admin. is at fault for the economic crisis we are in. We need to open our eyes or and get the facts or its only going to get worse.

If you will take the time to watch it you may think differently. It will also give you plenty of reference material as proof unlike your posts.

I watch a lot of stuff, and I read a lot of stuff. Youtube videos are not at the top of my list for credible sources. I did watch part of it, but turned it off when I realized it was a propaganda film.
I really prefer printed material. It's sometimes less ambiguous.

I agree about youtube videos but when you are given plenty of places to verify the information who cares where it comes from. I am still trying to determine the lesser of the 2 evils to vote for so I did not see it as propaganda film but if your mind is already madeup and you are no longer open to new information then anything you don't agree with will be called propaganda.
