My family had the worst BBQ sandwiches from there today. It was like eating BBQ from a can...really mushy, almost like it had been put through a grinder.
We had a to go order and I guess you have to ask for plastic ware. They forgot to put the complete order in the bag, so back we went.
Same Sh!t happened several weeks ago but it won't happen again. We won't go back!
They need a manager real bad if their business expects to stay open.

They've been fine for years before you, they'll be fine for years after you.

In all the years I've been eating out, they are one of the most consistent I know. Maybe not the best BBQ, but I know what to expect. The only bad food we've ever had were green beans so salty they were inedible. Waitress took them back and was out in a couple minutes with something else to replace. That was the end of that.

If you think a restaurant will fail because they don't supply "plastic ware" with a to-go order that you will be eating at home, where you have silverware, then clearly you have no idea what it takes to run a restaurant.

And why exactly didn't you look at your order to verify it while you were there like everyone else who orders carry out from a restaurant? Do you not look at your pizza before you leave with a carry out from pizza hut? Do you not look in the bag when going through the drive thru at McD's?

Branding Iron, like every single other restaurant in S.E. Missouri, is not 5-Star dining. You aren't paying enough to ensure that there will NEVER be an error on an order. Get over yourself.

Branding iron is awful. The food is so so. But the service is really bad. I refuse to go back and will not recommend anyone else to eat there.

You ended your rant with, "They need a manager real bad if their business expects to stay open." That is a catch-all closing statement that refers to all points you made prior to it. In other words, yes, you are saying that no "plastic ware" and a messed up order will cause them to close because a you think a manager would fix those problems.

If you think double-checking your order before leaving is laughable, I can promise you that you will continue to have these kind of incidents in the future. Yes, in fact, most people do double check their orders before they leave an eatery. If you choose not to, you are only setting yourself up for more disappointment - disappointment that you misplace on the restaurant. ALL restaurants make mistakes, "reputable" (by your definition or anyone else's) or not.

You state that you weren't taking it home. Fine, let's say you were taking it anywhere else other than home. Why on earth would you not check to make sure eating utensils were in the bag if it were going somewhere that you knew wouldn't have eating utensils? The restaurant assumes you are taking it home to eat. At home you have silverware. They are not going to assume you need eating utensils at your own home. That's ridiculous.

Did you even ask for eating utensils when you placed your order? I bet if you would have, they would have accommodated you. Most eateries will, even if it's not their policy. Otherwise, they would have told you they don't have any to send home with the order - in which case, you wouldn't have been surprised.

All this tells me is that you think they are supposed to magically read your mind and figure out, precisely, what you need. I'm gonna be "that guy" and agree with a previous poster, you must be a woman... I feel bad for your husband/boyfriend/life partner/whatever. Trying to read minds is difficult. I'm sure these sorts of things happen to you often.

So yes, get over yourself. Or better yet, stop going out for dinner because due to your unrealistic expectations, you will only be constantly let down.

Seriously did you tell anyone at the restaurant about what you experienced the first time and that you didn't want a repeat performance? Sometimes you need to speak up. Did you ask to speak with a manager or shift leader on either of your experiences? And if you really think restaurants are much different from each other they aren't until you get into luxe dining of which Cape doesn't have any. They have some that give it a real good attempt. A lot of restaurants aren't automatically putting 'the extras' in to go orders or drive through because there is a lot of waste and it really drives up cost..63 of every $1 goes for labor and product. So maybe get with the times and realize you need to be more constructively proative with all your dealings in public - including your dining out.

Branding Iron and Delmonicos are two peas in a pod when it comes to service and quality.

Why can't a restaurant owner stive for unique, high quality food and service? It seems they don't even care about anything, like they already have it made.

Had a horrible experience there last week. Called an hour ahead of time to place a pick up order. Got there and the fat girl behind the cash register couldn't find my order. Then a guy comes storming in the door with a to go order that he picked up that was not his. Turned out it was mine, but the food had been picked through, unwrapped, poked at and spilled in the bag. The fat bitch behind the counter just took the bag from him and shoved it at me and expected me to leave with it. I told her I wanted new food that had not been picked through. She then got an attitude and stormed off into the kitchen and didn't return. When I finally got my order, the ribs were dried up probably several days old and the green beans were salty beyond belief. I will not be going back there. Is there any restaurants that don't hire complete dumb fucks???

Okay store employee or owner... How about just putting napkins and utensils in the bag on a regular basis. When we are paying that much for overpriced food that tastes like shit and is made by the biggest scum bags in Jackson with criminal histories a mile long, the least you could do is throw a plastic fork in the fucking bag.

If I was, I still wouldn't unless you specifically asked for them. Those are controllable expenses and there's no sense in throwing away profit or raising prices to cover the expense for something that most people would be taking home to eat where they have their own napkins, plates, utensils, etc.

Seriously, you are being unreasonable expecting something that inconsequential to just be included without you asking.

Also, if the food is so horrible and expensive, why would you go back?

People around here have such a ridiculously unrealistic idea of what things cost in the restaurant industry.

They expect $35 a plate quality and service for $5. Just look at the comments on here. You all don't have a clue! People are complaining about The Branding Iron and Hickory House food quality, calling it greasy and bland. What the hell do you expect for $10 a plate? If either of those places were to provide the quality you all claim you want, they'd be out of business in a month because everyone would be complaining about the "outrageous" prices and refuse to go.

Clearly none of you know how businesses operate here. Quality costs money.

My point is made. The food at Hickory House is priced appropriately for the quality and level of service. People around here have unrealistic expectations. It's as though the entire area around here still thinks things should be priced the same as they were in the 90's
